I meant more in the sense that he would be turning his back on his deeply held religious beliefs, which does not seem like him.

Why else would they show TOJ?
Well when you put it like that.
I just though it's pretty early to reveal arguably the backbone of the entire story.

Eh I believe that we have the rest of this season + 13 episodes (give or take) left. They better not pull a lost and try to cram all the resolution into the last 4-6 episodes.
Jon just went through a big character event. It would be a decent to give the audience another bread crump on what could come next for him.
They could also play this like the first flashback to Ned's life, where Bran just sees snippet. They could reveal the identity in another Bran vision later. Right now just show the battle scene and move on. If they don't show R + L = J is will be upset though because the fact that Ned recalls this mystery during his imprisonment is so important. This promise haunted him to his death. He also promised to talk to Jon about his mother on his return before leaving for KL, which emphasizes the pain of remembering this right before he dies.
Since they have pulled it out context they better fricking make it count.

Still plenty of time to reveal Tyrion is a Targaryen.

I think Bran and the audience discover what Jon is next week, but I don't think the rest of Westeros will know until the end of the season.

I think they will show Ned up close with Lyanna this week giving her his promise and then maybe end the episode with the sound of baby(s) crying. I don't think they will "show" it as Jon Snow, but everyone familiar with R+L=J will go crazy. Then it will get revealed as Jon Snow sometime this season.
And Meera Reed

I don't think the rest of Westeros finds out. I think R+L=J is only important because it was the catalyst for everything that's happening right now

Anyone else a little disappointed Sean Bean isn't doing the TOJ scene? He is perfect for that scene. I read book 1 before seeing season 1 and I still view him when I reread that chapter.

If Jon may ride a dragon then R + L = J becomes more important. Remember the dragon has three heads.

The ages don't work at all. This scene takes place like 15ish years before the series began. So Sean Bean is like 20+ years too old.

I sure am!
I can't wait to see who they cut to after the TOJ scene.

It'd be hard to pass off a 50+ year old man as a 19 year old kid

I know. Well it's 14 years, and if it was included in season 1, a little make up could have Bean looking like a 14 year younger Ned. I doubt Ned changed significantly in 14 years.

Have an idea. Upon revival Jon envisions the TOJ scene and discovers who his parents are.
In Season One Ned promises Jon that they'll talk about his mother when next they meet. Any chance they met briefly in the realm of the dead?
