Of all the great writing throughout the entire TOJ scene, the best evidence for R+L=J is found in the final exchange.
These three knights are living legends...the all-stars of the Kings Guard, the Lord Commander among them.
They weren't at KL when Aerys fell. They weren't at Storm's End pledging to Robert. They weren't at the Trident when Rhaegar fell.
And after Aerys, Rhaegar and his heir, Aegon were killed...that left only Rhaegar's little brother as the last living heir to the throne...but:
Then or now...we swore a vow.
...And NOW it begins.
If Rhaegar had another legit male heir, he would be King before Viserys.
Why else would these 3 studbulls be guarding an old tower in Dorne...and leave Viserys with NO Kings Guard at all?
I'm gonna love the scene, no matter what.
I wonder if Dawn will be
Or just a sword...

Ser Willem Darry is fled to Dragonstone, with your queen and Prince Viserys. I thought you might have sailed with him.”
“Ser Willem is a good man and true,” said Ser Oswell.
“But not of the Kingsguard,” Ser Gerold pointed out. “The Kingsguard does not flee.”
Then or now...we swore a vow.

It's still somewhere between crackpottery and moon battery in my book.

I, personally, love all theories

Weren't they both at the tourney at Harrenhal? I guess they could have missed each other.
Yeah Jaime was pretty high profile while HR was incognito. He didn't tell anyone who he was and even got his arse kicked by some squires. Unless Jaime noticed him dancing with Lyanna or drinking with Ned then it's pretty un-fricking-likely. And it was seventeen years ago. Jackass.

Sadly, all of the ancient swords have been left out of the series, except Ice and Longclaw.
ETA: The answer to your question was revealed in next week's preview BTW.

Sorry, I get worked up over that theory. You're not a jackass.

I agree. How else could HR reveal about Jon Snow though?

Calm down guys. We read the books, that makes us better. If we resort to name calling we're no better than the Hodors.

No blood connection. Tywin tried to marry cersei off to rhaegar and Aerys told Tywin to frick off. He basically said Lords don't mate with commoners. Plus Targs married brother and sister for years to keep the blood line pure. It's why they all have white hair.
But they do have bastards. Question: Has there been any mention of Jaime and Cercei's mother? It could not have been the same as Tyrion's, yet I cannot recall any mention in the books or show. Can someone help me out on this factoid? TIA

The best option is during the GNC when they overthrow the Boltons. Some war council or whatnot, and Howland Reed pulls Jon aside and says, "You're a big boy now. Ned always told me if something happened to him and you didn't know the truth by now, with all that's going on - here is the truth. You might want to sit down."
Doing it in the public square in King's Landing is dramatic, but could be dismissed as posturing. Folks up north, especially Davos and the wildlings are going to know Jon was dead and came back. That will give more gravitas to the AA/TPTWP theory - much more than a lone Crannogman just saying it as part of political machination.
Don't you think?

They all have the same mother - Joanna. Tywin's beloved wife. She died giving birth to Tyrion.
You may be in the wrong thread, baw.

The reveal will come thru Bran, I think.
Maybe this is part of Martin's endgame...the reveal is made known to the readers...but never the characters.

Tywin's only had one wife (Joanna) as far as I remember. She died birthing Tyrion which is why Cersei resents him (for killing mom).

For real. Can somebody give this kid a ball to play with or something so he doesn't interrupt our super-enlightened thread again? This thread is for readers who know things and are better than everyone else.

I like this. Let him be Jon Stark King of the North

I felt bad after typing it, but come on - that was a 9 on the Hodor scale.

If that SOB writes a 7 book series titled A Song of Ice and Fire about the Targaryen Dynasty restoration and never reveals who the Song of Ice and Fire is to the other characters, then some fanboy will murder him in a dark, damp basement in the worst way imaginable.
