What he means is that it hasn't been established in the books like it has in the show. There is really not a lot of evidence of a rivalry similar to the show in the books.

I can't remember off the top of my head, but I don't think Jaqen ever knew about needle?? She hid it in the first place before training, and I know it seems like the faceless men seemingly know everything, but Jaqen seemed surprised to find the waif's face in the hall, so who knows

Agreed but the books havent gotten this far into the relationship yet. That's all i meant by saying he didnt know that

I know they spend like crazy ok this show but it sucks we didnt see the dragons wrecking shop on the master's navy and we didnt see arya fight the waif. Majorly disappointed.
