I think that's partially true, only because they have been setting up Jon Snow's eventual rise to the throne for several seasons now. There have also been fan theories regarding his lineage that go back more than 10 years. Dany would have made sense, too, considering her entire existence has been driven by reclaiming the Iron Throne for her family.
Bran becoming king is right out of left field and the reasoning for him becoming king is stupid. He has the best story? Literally everyone at that meeting had a better story than Bran. His story was so bland that the writers had him disappear for an entire season because they didn't know what to do with him.
If they hadn't rushed it people might have been more accepting.

It’s not that Jon got sent to the wall. It’s that he ended up looking like a chump. A person who did all he did doesn’t deserve that. At least have him die and go out like a champ. But no...Jon essential get thrown around like a used cloth.
And council was lame. And FU to Sam for not speaking up for your best friend. FU to the stark family, you all up being rewarded for being annoying. Davos...where’s your speech when needed? You’re good at that. FU Tyrion for your failures and shitty stories and lines. Bran has the best story? Tywin shitting was a better story than bran. FU lord Royce you fat arse. LF should’ve taken care of you in S6. Robin, Yara, Middle East looking Dorne guy are ok in my book.

I’m really surprised season 7 is that high, I found it to be quite bad, especially after rewatching it.

Don’t forget Howland Reed. He didn’t backstab Arthur Dayne so Jon could live at the Wall forever

For the average viewer I agree. But if your a critic or someone who posts on and reads a movie/tv board i doubt your just a casual viewer. Most people on here have explained why they didn’t like the final season with legitimate reasons. But for some reason a few people can’t understand that and just resort to “you’re just mad it ended”

I was fine with the final season. It's quality was no worse than anything after they ran out of book material

HBO wanted them to go until at least season 10, GRRM wanted them to go until seasons 10-13, but D&D were adamant that they could wrap up everything that needed to get wrapped up in 8 seasons
