Yes! There needs to be more movies/shows made from this time period. 1700's, early 1800's. A lot of things were going on in the time period around the War of 1812.

The miniseries Into The West is what you want.
6 2 hour episodes that follows one white family and one Lakota family and how they intertwine from 1825-1890 during Westward Expansion.
Think it came out in 2005 and the main character the first few episodes is Matthew Settle who famously play Captain Spiers in Band of Brothers.

If anyone watches, and likes Bend of the River, they should also watch The Far Country (1954) which also stars Jimmy Stewart and is directed by Anthony Mann. It's kind of a Rio Bravo/El Dorado situation where you think you're watching the same movie during parts of them.
The Far Country is about Stewart's character driving cattle to Klondike gold miners and a dirty sheriff taking his cattle. This one is also a Technicolor film that has beautiful scenery that was shot at Athabasca Glacier, Jasper National Park, Alberta, Canada. Co-stars Ruth Roman, Walter Brennan & John McIntire, who plays the cartoon-like villain on the bottom right of the above pic.

A lot of great movies listed so far. I like this one that hasn't been mentioned.

I've always wanted to see a movie made about John Paul Jones (the sailor, not the bass player for Led Zepplin)
