My bet is that he isn’t actually a priest and saw this situation as an opportunity to change his life. It’s the Locke character arch from LOST.
Agree completely, and I thought the same thing while watching this past episode.

Im glad that priests backstory didn’t go the way I thought it was. Good arc for him.
I enjoyed this episode. Some good action

This was a really good one. Excited to see where they go with the show.

I watched E7 last night.....
The monsters are so strange. Like when that nerd lets in that hot monster and she (obviously) kills him, she opens the window and the monsters just stroll around the house casually not really trying to kill anyone. The people in the house are running around all crazy when all they really have to do is go outside and walk briskly and they'll be fine.
I am interested to see where the story goes now that the house people are in town.
So Victor had shown Ethan the special trees that you could drop a rock into and it landed further away. And now he takes Julie to one and puts her in the tree and she ends up in a special room? I assume that was the same basement thing that Jade found in the woods that one day?
It was also a little strange to see Julie, who I believe is 14, asking Fatima to kiss her.
I am hoping that now that the community is sort of forced together (even though I suspect the house people will go back there at some point), that the story can move forward. I really want to see what Boyd can find if he ventures out into the night with the talisman.
Sucks to see Father Khatri go. His character was interesting, and I wanted to see him flesh out things with Sara more. But at least he seems to have convinced Boyd a little bit in her potential importance.
So it looks like Jim wants to build a big tower to try to antenna on. I wonder if the season will end with a cliffhanger that he gets some sort of message on it (as opposed to just static). Or maybe even something weird, like we learn there are multiple other places like this that exist.
Still digging the show a lot though.

Couple thoughts:
-There’s definitely some reason why the creatures can’t run and can only change into monsters once they get close to humans
-The creatures all seem to be dressed in older 1950’s type clothes, are they the original residents of the town and something happened to turn them?
-Complete disappointment that Tabitha’s sweater puppies won’t get turned loose…

Good episode tonight. Finally got to see the story of why Boyd and his son are at odds. Penultimate episode next week, so some shite is probably going down.

****Spoilers****
Boyd's wife losing it was wild. I figured something like that would happen, but damn, that was heavy.
The monsters are a pretty big enigma so far. Do they have the power to put someone under a spell to get them to open the window? Why would a grown adult that knows that those aren't real people and that they will absolutely FOR SURE violently kill them convince themselves that its ok to open the window??

Finished E8. Fantastic episode.
I love all of the parent/kid stuff. Maybe it resonates more with me now that I have a kid. But it was great.
Holy shite, Abby. Did not see that coming. Wow. That was a great scene. And I agree that seeing what caused conflict between Boyd and Ellis was nice to see. And man, putting your wife down before she could kill your son. Brutal.
And Boyd yelling about his son gave me some mad LOST flashbacks.
I like that we see how the talismans were found. Also like that we didn’t get a full explanation on them, but we at least see how they came about.
I’m interested to see what comes of this antenna idea on top of colony house. They seem to be pushing that as a pretty major play. Hope it’s not just a dead end, and it feels like a good cliffhanger for them to hear something on the CB.
That was a GREAT scene between Boyd and Ellis.
We need some more Victor info/history. I wonder if he could be the key to it all since he can see the boy in white during the day and seems to know lots of secrets about this place. And I know Ethan can see the kid too, but Victor has been there forever (since he was a kid apparently).

Agreed. That scene hit hard because it got me thinking about my son. Legit brought tears to my eyes, very well done.

I'm guessing maybe they can get in your head somehow and influence your thinking, like if you start talking to them.

I think it had more to do with that guy seeing people all over the house having sex and he wasn't with anyone and she manipulated him to think he was gonna get some.
Posted on 3/29/22 at 5:21 pm to TigerLunatik
That’s exactly what it was. Or maybe not even sex specifically, but he was obviously a beta nerd type. So any female attention resonates deeply with him. And the monster exploited that.
He even knew he wasn’t supposed to let her in, but he bought into the flirty bullshite from a monster. Even in ghost/monster land, pussy is undefeated.

Well they’ve spent a lot of time emphasizing not to even make eye contact with them because of how they’re able to get in your head
Hell the one daughter was practically in a trance when the teenager jock looking monster kid tried to talk to her. And they had been running for their lives to get into that house
But also im sure dudes nerd boner intensified things

At first I thought the opening scene of the series (when the little girl let the old lady in) was the girl’s grandmother. But it ended up not being that. I just thought I remembered her saying something like that or calling her a familiar grandma type name.
Posted on 3/29/22 at 7:55 pm to CocomoLSU
Didn't the monster try to convince the girl that she was the grandma or refer to herself as the grandmother?
Posted on 3/30/22 at 8:42 am to TigerLunatik
Yeah, seems like it was something like that. Weirdly, I cannot find that opening scene (video) on the internet right now. So I may try to watch it again later when I am at home to see exactly what she says.
And I don't know if the monsters :get inside your head" as much as they are just very convincing. Like tricking a child to let in an old grandmotherly lady. Or tricking a beta nerd to let in a hot chick. I don't think they are actually vampires, although some of their mysticism seems to be similar (like having to be invited/let in, for example).

I thought very early on the sheriff told the new family not to make eye contact and they had a way of getting into your head. Similar to vampires. Thats what I feel like I remember thinking idk

Any idea if these episodes will ever be free on Amazon/Hulu?
I can't bring myself to sign up for another damn paid channel. Was hoping it would work with directv login, but it doesn't. I'm stuck at Episode 3.

Just watched the opening scene. The old lady says “Meagan, it’s grandma. Come to the window.”
“But I’m not supposed to.”
"It’s okay, I won’t tell. It’ll be our little secret.”
“Do you promise?”
“I promise. And I’d never break a promise.”
Mom: “Meagan, what are you doing?”
“I’ve missed you so much.”
“You don’t look like my grandma.”
Mom: “She’s not your grandma.”
“I’m so lonely. Maybe I could come in.”
And then the girl opens the window. I remember being annoyed by that scene because the mom clearly has plenty of time to stop this from happening and doesn’t do shite except scream once the window is open.
So it’s hard to tell if the monster was “in her head” or if it’s just a combination of stupid kid and bad parenting.
