What's the story here? The trailer makes it look like a Patriot reboot.

I replied based on the trailer I saw during the KC game but this ones different. And it spoils a badass moment of the movie apparently... I hate trailers now..
It still seems more Patrioty but I see the Cold Mountain too.

White Southern farmer falls in love with black woman and fights the evil Confederates. Expect a lot of white guilt in this one. This was filmed all over south Louisiana too.

This one is about a southern deserter who is tired of fighting another man's war. He creates his own militia and deems Jones County a 2nd nation among the 1 nation that's divided in war. It's only after the war later own in life he marries a former slave girl and has a kid or two.
This movie is about my family. I've read a couple books about it. But I'm certain Hollywood is going to get away from the original story. It has a Robin Hood feel to it.

Jones County Miss. seceded from the state and declared themselves free during the Civil War. Grew up hearing about it, but I never really looked into the story much. I'll probably read up on it before seeing the film.
