Any idea of his net worth?

I think that two years ago he made $100 million dollars in one year, so he's worth quite a bit.

who's got more clout: Tyler Perry or Seth MacFarlane?

Not sure. I think MacFarlane has more potential than Perry does though. Perry will only have viewers who are black and will never ever attract a different audience. McFarlane seems to want to greatly expand his demographics, with the Flintstones and Star Trek. In the end I think he probably will.

My problem with FG has always been how nihilistic and unsentimental it's been - and that has only gotten worse. It's just TOO random for me.

I got a bad taste in my mouth on that one where Stewie kept relentlessly beating up Brian after he lost that bet. I just did not like that.

According to this site, it's around $100 million.

This one too.

Per his Wiki page (which references this article):
quote:

Bolstered by high DVD sales and established fan loyalty, Family Guy developed into a $1 billion franchise.[23] On May 4, 2008, after approximately two and a half years of negotiations, MacFarlane reached a $100 million agreement with Fox to keep Family Guy and American Dad until 2012. The agreement makes him the world's highest paid television writer.

But that article is from 2008, though it does say this:
quote:

In order for MacFarlane's deal to reach the $100-plus million figure speculated in the trades, Family Guy is expected to run for the duration of the agreement and other shows would likely have to move into a successful level of syndication as well.

So who knows..

It looks like somewhere right around the $100 million mark is fairly accurate though.

I thought that was funny. If Family Guy's jokes are one thing, they're repetitive and long...and that's what that one was all about (smiilar to the Peter vs. Chicken fights).

"Part of me thinks that Family Guy should have already ended. I think seven seasons is about the right lifespan for a TV series," he says of a show that launched its tenth season last month. "I talk to the fans and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say we're done with it. There are plenty of people who say the show is kind of over the hill… but still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility." As he sees it, there’s something to be said for wrapping up the series and doing a movie once every couple of years. "Creatively, that would be the way to do it for me.

Sounds like he's just ready to do new things. Not that FG sucks.

Usually when you say it should have ended four years ago, that greatly implies that you are not that proud of your work. Plus Quagmire going off on Brian means they're at least somewhat aware of how terrible the show has gotten.
