I mean what the shite, I don't care about his love life, we spend the entire movie enamored w his brilliance and we never know what the damn career and job path he chooses in life.

No. It really sucks, the emotional part if the movie was boring, his brilliance and what he was going to do with it was the part I at least was most Interested in

He doesn't know what he wants to do, he does know he loves the girl. So he's going after her and will figure out what makes him happy rather than being pushed into some job he'll hate just because he's a genius. It's kind of a big theme throughout the movie.

He's going to use that brilliance to make up his own mind. He's going to escape his shitty neighborhood/life expectations while rejecting the shite people were trying to force him into because he's finally free, and strong enough, to go out and find what makes him happy and gives him meaning.
What he specifically ends up doing is irrelevant, the thing to focus on is the shift in his outlook on like, his prospects, and willingness to finally live for himself instead of being confined by his circumstances or the will of others.

We had the whole movie him not knowing what to do and him loving the girl and then 10 minutes of confusion and then bam back to the same plot of movie

His relationship with the girl is a microcosm of the bigger choices and changes he's making and facing.

Wouldn't kill us for him to see him going to work w a NASA briefcase or him giving a presidential speech

I'm with you Chad. That movie was downhill from the How bout them Apples line.

True dat. The brilliance of the movie just left you nothing but a sorry drive of disappointment

It's overrated movie IMO. The bar scene when he has a smartness duel was straight Hollywood cheez.

So you're saying that emotional scene with him and RW was boring?

Love rules all or something?
How you like them apples?

It's in my top 5 movies - possibly #1. At least 2-3 scenes make me cry every time I see it.

Why are you putting "Spoiler" for a movie that was made 17 years ago?
