Old farts in their 50’s and 60’s are making the best films on the planet. DJI camera drones have become the champion for everyone who was locked out of the incestuous nepotism system known as “Hollywood”.

Lol I am one of those old farts.
We even have a Facebook group: Old Farts With DJI Drones.

It’s 50 and older but some guys are in their 30’s and 40’s.

It’s very easy to get started.
1) Pass the TRUST exam (free)
2). Register your drone with the FAA if it weighs over 250 grams.
3) If you want to get paid you must pass the FAA part 107 UAV pilot exam but if you are just flying for fun then go fly.

I’m assuming the downvotes came from Louisiana’s gatekeepers in the various unions.

Your days are finished.Everyone in the current system is obsolete. Enjoy your man buns and lattes while you can.

it’s because you offended 80+% of this board by calling them old farts

I upvoted. All that video was missing was a David Attenborough narration

Anything to put Hollywood out of business is just fine by me.

That video was very well produced. I wonder where they get the music for these videos.

The music and sounds are really at least 50% of the videos impact.

All of the popular editing programs like Adobe have AI music that is license free. The DJI app for your phone has AI editing that will edit your clips together and add music with one click.

You don’t have to know anything about microphones, syncing sound, or any of the other crap that took weeks and months to produce.

There are more new filmmakers in their 70’s than in their 20’s…

I just tried to join- I have a Mavic something or other that I bought my employees to take marketing videos with.

I’d like to learn how to fly it to make fishing videos.

Thanks for the info.

Well, I’ll be 70 in a little over a year from now so maybe oughta get my little drone out and practice so I can get a “DJI” and make some cool movies.

About How much does it cost to get rigged up for that?

If any of this threatens the large media producers you can bet these rules will change drastically.

The confirmation is pretty quick and it’s a great resource for everything from repairs to how to fly for the best cinematic shots.

The big studios have the access to restricted air space and professional equipment that is impractical for the average recreational flyer.

Fines for recreational flyers are so large that nobody will risk losing $75,000 to get a cool reel for social media.

I have a drone that cost about $250. I guess I’mma check it out now.

It does take talent, skill, and creativity to produce a video of that quality.
