Rotten Tomatoes

Has a 94% on RT so far after 34 reviews.

Looks like a good movie. A lot isn't revealed in the trailers either.

Sam Raimi did the Evil Dead series. He's got some experience with horror flicks.

Add on the high budget movies that he has done since that time and I'm not surprised if he can put out a good horror film.

To me it looks terrible, but it's been getting a lot of good reviews.

It's been a really long time since I've seen them, but the first was more straight forward but was so bad it was funny and the following two were more comedy than they were horror. I thought all three were pretty "meh" but I am careful to say that so I don't get killed by the Campbell & Raimi fanboys.

My old roommate in college used to fricking LOVE the ED movies. Any time I ever caught a minute or 2 of one, it always seemed like a comedy/intentionally bad movie.

It looks fricking horrible and just about everything seems to be revealed in the commercials.

BUMP...

I was wondering if anybody had seen this yet?

I can't wait to see it. I think the desire to do this had been building up in Raimi for a while now.

The Evil Dead Trilogy is horror/slapstick genius.

Looks like too much CGI.
I hate horror movies nowadays.

I went and saw it yesterday. I really enjoyed it. It had a nice mix of horror and comedy and reminded me of the Evil Dead series in multiple spots. It had some CGI, but a lot of the effects were traditionally done.

It's not Oscar winning material, but it is a well-paced, entertaining movie. If you enjoyed the Evil Dead movies or older B-movie horrors, then you will like this.

It's certainly better than some of the other crap that is out right now.

Most reviews have been good and I haven't seen too many people complaining about the PG-13 rating after seeing the movie. Might give this one a shot.

Even though it is only PG-13 it has some pretty gory scenes. Not so much blood and guts (even though there is some of that too), but other gross things as well.

That is what I meant. Many people were leery of the PG-13 rating , myself included, but most reviews have stated it had plenty of gory goodness.

I agree. Everytime I see a commercial for a horror flick that looks good I cringe at the end when I see it is PG-13. Somebody get some balls and make an R rated horror movie for adults and stop catering to the teeny boppers. Someone give Rob Zombie a chance with a big budget please.

The origonal Evil Dead wasn't. Even Stephen King said it scared the crap out of him, but when he did Evil Dead 2 he added in alot of slapstick humor and carried it on to Army of Darkness

Like I said it was a long time ago, I just remember it being really bad to the point that my friends and I were laughing.

i saw it last night

i thought it was pretty good. not stellar, but definitely has many scenes that will make you jump, some black humor, well paced, well shot, etc.

not stellar, but a pretty good horror movie with a dash of raimi's tongue-in-cheek dialogue
