Man, I thought the mom in the original was a dick but holy shite at what an a-hole she is in this one. "Oh yeah, that trip you've been planning all year? Never mind. You're not going. I need a vacation. You have to stay here and watch the kids. Also, here's an old lady you've never met who will lord over you all summer b/c I don't trust you to watch the kids which means there is no good reason for you to stay here. Byeeeeeeee!"

What little I did see of the original only told me how much it was going to suck, so I can't see a need for a remake.
And without opening the link I'll guess it's replacing white with black as the cast.
