If you are an adult watching it for the first time, then sure it might not hold up.
I think any kid watching it today would still like it. It is a great adventure story, but I love those type of movies.
I still love In Search of the Castaways and Island at the Top of the World.
And yes, I think it holds up. Watched it a few months back and still thought it was a good kids adventure.
Still want to know who got all the gold. Someone had to go chase down Willie's ship.

my kids love watching goonies...and I love watching it with them. So, yes, it does.

I actually still like The Neverending Story, but mainly for nostalgia purposes. However, I think Goonies is still just a good movie (as opposed to liking it only because of nostalgia).
ETA: Also, TNE is a huge fantasy movie, so I look at it slightly differently from an adventure movie like Goonies (even though they are both movies I loved from my childhood).

im 21 and every single person i know that has seen the goonies absolutely loves it.
