I watched A Serbian Film after a thread about it here years ago. A couple of us made it through and talked about it a little here.
It's not like they had the special effects budget to make the gory stuff realistic. More than anything I was just amazed that someone A). Thought of all that shite, and B). Got it made and distributed.
The director claimed it was a metaphor for how the Serbian government treats its citizens, so...you know...art?

I read the plot summaries for both Serbian and salo. What the f is wrong with people? Does this shite actually happen or is it all fantasy? I read each and got sick to my stomach.

I watched ASF years ago and it was okay. Obviously the subject matter is super fricked up but it’s not a “bad” movie outside of that really (like it’s decently made and the quality is decent as well).
Something like Salo I would watch but I think I would just be bored out of my mind. Same thing with Eraserhead. It just doesn’t look like something I would enjoy or even be able to sit through due to boredom.
And some things aren’t “artsy” at all and are nothing more than just someone’s twisted mind playing out on screen. They don’t have any redeeming value or any point really. That’s how I feel about something like Eraserhead, for example.

This is an important factor. I don't like Human Centipede 2 not because of the content, but because its poorly made from a technical standpoint. The acting and writing are horrendous. The subject matter doesn't bother me.

A Serbian Film depicts infant rape. That's what you're defending right now. Just to let you know. You don't have to go all the way to depictions of rape and pedophilia to get away from comic book movies.
