Do you think Seth Rogen should be praised for cutting off James Franco?

I just can't imagine cutting off a friend of 20+ years like this. Even if you're not going to work with him, I'd expect friends to support each other in private. These weirdos are acting like its brave when it seems the most cowardly thing in the world. If he'd act just a little forgiving towards Franco it could help him get a 2nd chance in Hollywood, but I suspect Rogen is only thinking of his own career. At this point how could anyone be friends with Rogen if you know he'll turn his back on you the second you screw up? This has ruined Seth Rogen content for me - his face just pisses me off.

He doesn't want the gravy train to end, I am sure that they are still in communication with each other and they're working with a PR agent.

No.

I actually like Rogen, but no, I don't see any reason he should be praised for this. By all accounts, the worst thing Franco did was try to hookup with some teenagers. I'm not saying that's right, it's not, but it's not like he actually did anything. If it were a longtime friend of mine I would have at least tried to talk to him about it and help him out.

Think it's even worse his brother completely cut him off. I can't imagine cutting my blood brother out of my life for something like that.

Dave hasn't cut him off. He just doesn't talk about him and avoids getting photographed together. They celebrated James' 40th birthday together last year.

I'd be willing to bet Seth has done some creepy shite of his own during his career. Just not as much because he's a fuzzy, ugly guy. As an actor, I could take him or leave him. As a person, he seems like a pos.

I don't care. We all have friends that we wouldn't bring home for Thanksgiving dinner. And we all have friends that we were once inseparable from and are now distant friends.

It's worth noting that we don't have the whole story on why he cut him off and from all indication it doesn't seem like it's "just" the public allegations. He even says as much in his most recent interview (posted in the article):

quote:

"I'm trying to think how much I want to personally share about this... I honestly think the nuance of it is too personal for me to get into right now. It is a very personal thing," Seth said, hesitantly, after being asked about the broken friendship and how he's processed it. "There’s the public-facing side of it, which I’ve spoken about, and I have the same stance publicly that I’ve had, and I think the proof is in the pudding — I have not worked with him in years. But the personal side of it is just so nuanced, and it involves people that I don’t know if I should be dragging into this."

It just screams there's more to it all than just what we know publicly.

Rogen is also a POS that cut him off when it's convenient. He could've cut him out years ago, but only did it once the allegations started coming out during metoo.

Yea I mean he probably is a douche in real life. I'm strictly speaking about his movies and shows.

His pot head schtick got old but I love his old stuff like Knocked Up, Pineapple Express, Superbad, 40 Year Old Virgin, Freaks and Geeks and his newer stuff I mentioned The Studio and Platonic. Seems like his personal life has made people forget how funny some of his older stuff was.

I have a pretty easy time separating the person from the actor. Though I get why some can't. But if you can separate the two his Apple+ comedies are worth a watch, it's some really good writing.

There is no way James Franco is only 40/41.

Anyway, I agree with OP. Rogen knew what he was up to. His distancing himself so aggressively is kinda weak.

Kudos to Rogen for having a red line and not allowing anyone to cross it I suppose, but yeah it seems like a lot to lose out on a best friend of 20+ years bc he banged a couple of college students when he was their professor.

Wonder if one of the students was maybe another friends daughter or something? Who knows.

I mean if one of your close friends was texting and trying to hook up with chicks that were 17, maybe 18…you wouldn’t be like dude wtf is wrong with you? Go after chicks with fully developed brains

Maybe cutting him off is strong but let’s not like anyone else wouldn’t do the exact same shite for their jobs too. People just hold actors to a different standard. Similar shite happened to Dr Disrespect and all the streamers had to cut him off. Call it lack of integrity if you want but it’s creepy AF they were doing it in the first place and you have to protect yourself professionally. Everyone in here that said they wouldn’t do the same are full of shite or, like you, don’t have a problem with 40 year olds trying to hook up with teenagers. Either way, bad look

Like I said, I would have tried to talk to him, hopefully steering him in a better direction. You know, been a friend.

Maybe learn to read, I literally said what he did was not right.

Think it was Dave Franco's birthday - he was born in 85.

Rogen even saying vague shite like this and leaving it up to the imagination just ensures Franco doesn't get another chance in Hollywood. After these comments to NYT, Franco is fricked all over again. Thanks Seth!
