i’m just saying the dwarves in LOTR looked better.
Snow White’s dwarves would look better if they did what LOTR did.
Order of Preference for how the dwarves would be depicted
1: Scalled regular sized actors
2: Well Animated CGU Dwarves
3. Little People Actors
4: CGI Monstrosities
5: 7 assorted people of normal stature.
I think they started at 3, pivoted to 5, and then pivoted to 4.
I would have started at 1 or 2

Oh sorry, you were just talking so grandiose about taking back Hollywood, I was confused. I had always been under the impression that Hollywood has and always will be filled with perverts who use their power to abuse others ala Kevin Spacey, Woody Allen, Roman Polanski, Harvey Weinstein, Bill Cosby, Brett Ratner, Dan Schneider, Chris Savino, John Kricfalusi, Bryan Singer, Louis CK, Russell Brand, well you get the idea. Hollywood be perverts and ever thinking shite is moving in a positive direction is stupid.
So someone is taking up the arse to get these roles, cause Hollywood has never been a meritocracy.
It goes back even further.
In ancient Greece, all actors were male, including those playing female characters. The Greeks believed that women performing in public was dangerous, so men portraying women neutralized the risk.
In early Roman theater, men originally played female characters, but eventually female slaves took over the roles.
And of course there's always the example of Picasso (another "artsy" type) cutting off his own ear.
It's odd someone so focused on movies/tv and culture hasn't realized that the people drawn to those professions are in general "weird"
Posted on 8/15/24 at 1:21 pm to Corinthians420
There’s “weird” like someone like Matthew McConnay which is fine and in line with as you say the types who usually are in this profession. There’s also totally normal people who as best as possible keep to themselves and live a normal life like Chris Pratt and The guy from quite place and office married to Emily blunt his name escapes me. Then there’s absolute scum degenerates that doesn’t fall in “weird” and they need to be held to account for their crimes but instead are shielded. Hollywood’s moral grandstanding and the me too thing was hilarious. As if they didn’t shield and enable Harvey for decades and continue to do so with many amongst them if they make them money

But this is a new age, never before has Hollywood faced a period of absolute total collapse in money made as the past 5 ish years have been.
We haven't approached the 60's level collapse that helped lead the way to the last real golden age of Hollywood that was the 70's, but I hope we can get there.
I love comic book movies, I am a massive comic book fan. But I am beyond ready to get back to smaller character focused films that don't need 100+ million dollar budgets with CGI packed through the gills. I want practically effects and tight scripts.

Remember that time Barbara Walters berated Corey Feldman for trying to expose his abusers on national TV?
Pepperidge Farms remembers.

All reports are that marvel is refocusing completely, and a few months back silently fired all producers anyone would consider an activist. This is coming from Chris Gore and no one is going to be more accurate about this stuff. It seems they’re the one division of Disney that is without a doubt ditching politics of any sort and going back to tried and true money making stuff. I just hope like you we can get a lot more stuff that’s not end of the world or end of the universe or multiverse type stuff. Some street level lower stakes character focused films. It’s why to this days winter soldier is marvels best film. It’s essentially an espionage thriller with super hero trimmings.

But let’s wipe Gina Carano off the face of the earth. Disney logic.
Don't think that ain't gonna come up in her case.

Matt Damon said we will never go back to this because of the collapse of post theater run sales. There are no more VHS, DVD sales where u can expect to make half your profit, everybody just watches streaming services.

That makes literally zero sense for the point you’re trying to make. Since they stupidly killed the dvd market to all chase streaming only to get butt fricked by Netflix, how does it make sense to continue to make 350 million dollar budget movies that have to make near over a billion to simply have a tiny profit? You know what some of the most profitable films in existence are? Low budget horror films. If they weren’t all retarded suits drunk on thinking their shite steaming service will ever not be a money sink, they’d all cancel them and license all their stuff to the 2is that remain. Netflix obviously and Prime is also not going anywhere. I’d prefer hbomax survive since I enjoy a ton of their stuff.

We're supposed to belive that trash that's playing Snow White is hotter than Gal Gadot.
Whatever.
Whatever.

Disney originally dropped the idea of using dwarves at all.
Peter Dinklage raised a fuss about it, quite publicly. That didn't help matters.

For real
Zegler is like a 5 when they don’t have best in the world people whose sole job or is to not make her look like a 5. Even their talent only can make her a 6. I know this is a joke on this site but I teach at GSU and a researcher there and I literally see hundreds of more attractive young women a daily basis. The same cannot be said about smoke show Gal

Back when people would buy the DVD or VHS. What is an example of this from the past 10 years?

When they are productions done in the UK for the huge tax breaks, yes. Caroline Read at Forbes exposes Disneys irresponsible way of wasting money all the time. UK law requires all of it be made public. Or are you suggesting there’s some grand conspiracy to fabricate legal tax documents published in the UK? Something that could incredibly easily be found out and result in a huge problem for them

Off the top of my head basically anything blumhouse produces. 5 nights at Freddie’s was their most recent I think. Budget of 25 million and it ended up grossing over like 650 million dollars.

Disney Parks have a few minor issues that they can fix and one major issue out of their control.
They can do more to maintain/update older rides, replace them, and add new areas (they have this coming down the pipleline) to have plenty to keep people occupied. They need to drop the Genie+ and Lightning Lane all of that nonsense. You really only need to have 3 levels of tickets beyond the regular ones in terms of express passes: 1. SuperPass that allows you to skip the line at all rides as many times as you would like. 2. ExpressPass+ that allows you to skip all the lines at all the rides once. 3. ExpressPass that allows you to skip the line once at the 3-5 most popular rides in each park.
They also need to immediately drop their prices for all tickets. No individual day ticket should cost more than $150 ever. I get that some days are more in demand than others. But if you charge too much just to get in the door, people are going to spend significantly less money once they are in and will drop a day or two from their visit. Your goal should be to be at capacity each and every day your park is open. Once a day is past, you can’t sell a ticket for it anymore. They use to have these afternooner tickets for people to come back in the park after noon. Bring those back on a dynamic basis. Some people may not be willing to pay $120 to get in the park at 8/9 am but will be willing to pay $80 to get in at noon when people are eating lunch or going back to their hotels for a break.
The major issue they have no control over: The economy is shite and inflation is out of control. When people have less and less disposable income, that yearly week long trip to Disney turns into a weekend trip to Carowinds/Six Flags/etc.

Bingo. Same with Kristen Stewart playing the character when Charlize Theron was the Queen.

Stewart is like objectively ugly. I’ll give Zegler one thing and she isn’t ugly. She’s just mind numbingly mid
