Just finished episode 3. Holy crap Leila George is a smoke show and the sex scene was straight fire.

The big question is how the novel could “know” what actually happened since the mother (author) never spoke to the son about it. Are we watching what really happened or what happened in the novel?
Overall, this is a really cool show.

My wife had it on a few nights ago and it was shot in that shitty digital camera way where everything was in focus.
Ironically, deep focus photography was seen as an achievement in mid 20th Century filmmaking. It was hard to pull off given the lens and film stock technology of the day. It’s one reason Citizen Kane is celebrated. Shallow focus photography didn’t become fashionable until the digital era.

I can understand ruining her relationships and career, but driving her son to what I assume will be an overdose is a bit much. If he doesn’t OD, he will need years of therapy after seeing those pictures. Her meltdown at the office was masterfully orchestrated though.
Some really interesting shots of the sun breaking through the clouds at key moments. Regardless of the plot, this has been a very visually pleasing show to watch. Especially last week

What’s the deal with the fox?
Posted on 10/25/24 at 8:50 am to Alyosha
Good question. I’ve noticed the fox and a particular focus on the cats as well. Foxes are tricky creatures so maybe it’s a manifestation of his plot against Catherine.

The cats seem to always be with the Ravenscrofts. The foxes are always with the Brigstockes. We still don't know how the mother could have written such a detailed account that readers accept as truthful based only on photos. Also, no Leila George in this episode, so... bummer. Overall still enjoying this a lot.

The Brigstocke’s have an orange cat that you can see when Catherine looks through the mail slot. I don’t remember seeing it before, which is more evidence of a connection between the cats and Ravencrofts.

Dude is absolutely wrecking that lady’s and her family’s lives. And I’m loving it.

Starting to think that Kline and his late wife are really bad people.
Is there something in the book that explains how the wife knows or claims to know what she was writing about?

I haven’t read the book, but I imagine we will get this answer in the remaining 2 episodes. Let’s keep the book knowledge out of this thread until then to avoid spoilers.

Haven’t read the book, but just by the title of the show with the *, you could be right. Could just be stuff the mom made up because she couldn’t deal with.
That said, I still don’t llike Catherine and she is still a POS.

This could mean issues with the book and could take a little bit away from young Catherine’s exploits in episode 3 and part of 4. They are still on screen to rewatch (and I will), but if anything exaggerated or made up then that could mean young Catherine was not completely like that and also possibly that she did not repeatedly say words like “aura”, “Kylie”, and “erect nipples” with a pause right before many times, give the instructions on just placing a little pressure back there with a finger, or do the riding which makes the world and the rewatches a little sadder to take part in…

Well we got some insight into the morality of Kline and the authenticity of the book tonight. At least with Catherine recounting the events we can get another round with young Catherine. I doubt it will be as spicy though.
There’s no justification for murdering Nicholas to get back at Catherine but at the same time I still wanted Kline to do it and get his “win” because all of the Ravencrofts are so unlikable.

I forgot episodes are released on Thursday night. Today also hasn’t felt like a Thursday for some reason.
I still have a little left of the prior episode to finish first. Last week’s episode has been harder to stay focused on it and not get sidetracked doing something else.

I went back and watched this because of the downvotes of my first post in here. This show is not good. The Acolyte is better than this show. Thats what I get being influenced by chickenshit downvoters.

Sorry just to clarify here, if I was given a choice to watch this show again or get AIDS, I would select the AIDS.

It’s looking like a different version of how some things went down (at least in Catherine’s mind), and Kline’s character being more than willing to be creative in his additions to the book. His wife was angry before the cancer and could have done the same and never meant for it to be shared.
The only thing is Catherine not immediately countering any fabrication added to the book with her husband, work, and even when talking with Kline although there was something about the way she mentioned to him about how remarkable it was for the wife to have so many details that didn’t seem genuine. It seemed like she was trying to get him to think a little more realistically, but if some of the major points of book that fill in the blanks left by the pictures were exaggerated or lies after all that’s happened I would be more point blank and directly right in his face with the truth which leaves some ambiguity on book being closer to factual or way too fictional.
quote:Yeah there was no justification for almost murdering him. It was a huge escalation from trying to hurt or belittle him along with entire family. I knew he wouldn’t care if Nicholas OD’d and died, but I didn’t think he would just flat out attempt to murder him (or have the intention before interrupted).
There’s no justification for murdering Nicholas to get back at Catherine but at the same time I still wanted Kline to do it and get his “win” because all of the Ravencrofts are so unlikable.
There is actually no justification for doing anything to Nicholas, communicating with him, or sending him anything.
I have started to like Nicholas’s father a little more (not really like but shifted in that direction or maybe to him not deserving this especially stuff with his kid). He thinks he is honestly trying to support the father of the kid who died saving his son and who allegedly has been wronged by his wife. He is playing into Kline’s hands, but it seems genuine on his part. He is still snooty and unethical with his work.
To a lesser degree it’s the same with Catherine. The asian assistant threatening her cancellation along with everyone having their phones out filming automatically pushes me to being open to the other side. Hitting her co-worker also didn’t bother me. She told that guy to stop putting his hands on her, and he still tried to grab her shoulder from behind while she was attempting to leave. It was a fairly natural reaction. She was also the only one who fully understood Kline’s intentions towards her son at the hospital while getting vilified for it even though unknowingly to them she saved his life.
Whether she deserves to lose her husband, job, & reputation depends on whether she actually knew and withheld alerting people that Jonathan was still out there (son still should have been left alone). Just denying she knew him, which was independently verified, is about enough to call her a bitch not anything Kline’s character has done. At most maybe sharing the pics with husband to let him know his wife is a slut. That’s before getting into how much of their relationship as portrayed in the book ends up being accurate.
Speaking of Nicholas in 20 years the circumference around his legs never increased and might have actually decreased. Actor’s legs look like the legs of POW actors and extras when playing characters held in captivity for 10 to 20 years before finally getting rescued.
