Did Bridesmaids suck or was it just me?

Caught it last night expecting a comedy in the vain of Hangover...at least that's what I had heard.

Discovered a chick flick with the only funny part being the dress shopping scene.

Noticed many attempts at comedy that just couldn't produce even a slight chuckle.

I thought it was ok. I actually liked that they made the main character a bit of an overreacting bitch. I thought she was more lifelike than most female movie characters.

I genuinely like some of Kristen Wiig's other work. I just didn't find this funny and I feel like I got suckered into watching a bland chick flick.

I actually feel the complete opposite.

I cannot stand her VERY repetitive SNL characters and surprisingly liked this movie because of her.

Well TBH, I think the fat chick made the movie, but Kristen Wiig's character wasn't bad at all IMO.

How did you get suckered? It was a movie with all chicks about a wedding titled BRIDESMAIDS. Perhaps you need to better learn the signs of a chick flick.

It's not bad but you ask any woman and they'll act like this was the funniest shite they ever saw.

I think the hype ruined it for me. Several people described it as the "female version of hangover".

It wasn't even close. The fat chick was funny. An the dress shop scene was hilarious but otherwise it was just "ok".

Suck? Nah, but it was extremely overrated and overhyped - on this board especially. That said, I enjoyed it much more than Hangover 2, which was a pile of hot garbage.

I thought it was pretty funny, especially for a chick flick. I'd recommend it.

It had a lot of funny moments but I thought it was 20 minutes too long/needed to be edited down more. Certain parts of the movie dragged on and on and it became too serious at some parts, like most chick flicks do.

It definitely seemed a little long, but I enjoyed it. I agree that it was obviously over-the-top, but that was the intent, just as movies like Hangover usually are. I think Kristen Wiig is really talented, and she's pretty funny, but I didn't like ceertain aspects of the movie and how people acted, but that's prolly because it wasn't aimed at me. Overall, I liked it though.

Of the summer comedies it was funnier than Hangover 2 but not as funny as Horrible Bosses. I liked it, then again I was zonked on painkillers when I went to see it so who knows?

i thought it was pretty average. I found it to be more of a drama than a comedy. And yes the main character was annoying as frick and not very funny at all in the movie.

That fat girl kind of stole the show, much like Zach G did in the Hangover.

the Hangover 2 was much funnier even if it was the same plot.

Thought it was funny as shite personally. The opening scene where the cop from The Town tells her he doesn’t know how to tell her he really wants her leave without sounding like a dick had me rolling. I think I’m one of those who saw it early though before the hype. It shocked the hell out of me.

I'm with you on this one, chief. I normally hate Wiig. But tolerated her with ease in this one. The Mike and Molly chick was hilarious. Also the bitter blonde woman was hilarious too.

There were some legit LOL moments in this flick, but not nearly as funny as other people made it out to be.

I bought this without ever seeing it cause I thought it would be worth the $. If I would have rented this beforehand...I would not have purchased it. Certain parts were funny and all, but I had much higher expectations of it based on comments from this board.

And the scene at the engagement party where the two chicks are giving their speeches to the bride to be...wayyyyyyy too freaking long. I don't like when movies make me feel really awkward. I was about to fast forward through that part it was so awkward.

Awful movie... I was so dissapointed. It was awkward and slow and the overacting was annoying.
