I loved it, but I think we all know how it feels to hate something everyone else raves about. Luckily, I didn't feel that at all with this one. It's nice to not be disappointed in a movie for a change.

I was disappointed. Incredibly well crafted from a technical sstandpoint. Visually impressive. A nice germ of an idea. And some good scenes.
NOW . . . way too many bullshite . . . yes, bullshite . . . layers and twists merely to explain a means to get where Nolan wanted to go. And where was that? That's what's disappointing. Not much of anywhere. In the end, it was almost vacuous. Wait, that's probably too harsh. It just didn't hold my interest as I had hoped.
Too each his own. Can't say it was a horrible movie or anything like that. I wanted more.

Ask yourself - do you understand why they had to go 3 layers deep? Do you understand why they were doing this at all?

To plant inception, but it's inception is not real having to go 3 layers deep is only bc Nolan wants to have twists and such. Could have made the movie without all of that.
I don't agree with the poster but i understand why some would not enjoy that style of film.

Uhhh, yeah. I get it. Completely understood it. Still call bullshite.
And by what I mean by where Nolan wanted to go is what, in the end, was he trying to say with the movie. Nothing with that much pretentiousness can try to say it was just action and science fiction or escapism. He clearly thought he was going to say something profound.

pretty much. i can't believe people actually get into serious discussions about what ended up on film.

Did you do well with Dungeons and Dragons? How many times have your read The Hobbitt and Lord of the Rings?

Why? People often ascribe this sort of thing to filmmakers. Sometimes it's probably true; Avatar, for example, involves clear environmentalism advocacy. A lot of the time, there's probably nothing being "said", as though there is some sort of message.

I saw it today. Decent movie, but it certainly will not be falling in my Top10 of all time. Given my fascination with dreams, along with my fascination of movies that make you "think," I really thought I would love this movie. However, I did not.
It was entertaining, and I definitely recommend it, I just came away a tad disappointed. I thought the movie was too "jumpy" and never really had a cohesiveness to it. While it certainly is a movie that makes you think, which I love, the pace of it never gave you time to actually think and process those thoughts. I think that's the main problem I had with it... right about the time you are just starting to wrap your mind around one component, they jump into a completely different component/level and you have no choice but to go with them, or you'll be lost. Thus IMO you never develop a true understanding and enjoyment of each scene.
For movies that inspire a lot of thought and have a very complex storyline such as Inception, I think it works much better at a slower pace which would allow the audience to do what it's intending the audience to do: digest the storyline and think. Because everything was so fast-paced, the viewer doesn't get a chance to get wrapped up in it IMO.
I'll definitely watch it again at some point, and I'm pretty sure it's one of those movies that gets better the more times you watch it and can develop an appreciation for the complexity of it, in my mind it did not become a "cult classic" that I thought it had the potential to become.
It's wierd ... it was a long-arse movie, but ironically I feel like it was rushed.

I'm not honest, but you're a good poster.

The film explains that you have to go deep enough into the subconscious for such an idea to manifest itself and grow naturally within the subjects minds.
