p.s. Were there people crying in your theater when Dobby died?

Yes, and this guy was one of them. I loved that frickin' little elf.

Lupin..really?? you dont even know how the frick he dies..that character deserves more that a....oh look...he is dead... ending...hopefully the movie gives it to him
That was right before he left to go meet Voldy in the woods if I remember correctly. I actually didn't mind how she just seemed to take them out. You didn't see how they died, but it just gave the whole situation an even more hopeless feeling. It may not have done Lupin and Tonks justice (two of my favorite characters in both the movie and books), but by doing so, Harry was kept on track to find the other horcruxes.

After one of the Weasleys is killed and Ron wants to run off and fight, if Harry would have seen Lupin and Tonks die, it would only make sense that he would want to do the same, and that time there would be no one to stop him.

I assume that their deaths, although not deserving of their status as characters, were meant only to bring about and show Harry's true feelings about allowing others to fight for him. The combination of others dying for his sake and the hopelessness of the situation are what drive him to sacrifice.

Although the death doesn't do them justice, it allowed the story to stay on track.

I probably went way to in depth with that analysis. No, I did not dress up for the movie and I do not own a wand of any kind.

Spoilers

I went with a friend that just watches the movies and does not read the books. They did not understand when I tried to explain why Dobby's death was so meaningful. Dobby got screwed in the movies. Neville at least acted like the badass he will be in the end for the 5 seconds he was on screen. Its been a while since I read HP, but at what point does Harry start learning about the real history of Dumbledore and has that whole thing to deal with? Thats gonna be hard to squeeze into the last movie

Yea that was another aspect of this movie that they left out. Dumbledore's past was supposed to play a much larger role in this movie (Gridlewald stealing the wand, Rita Skeeter's book, etc.), but they played it down to nothing more than a few pictures and a comment here and there. Its gonna be very hard to fit all of that into the last movie. They really could have used some of those boring "lets stare into the distance or setting sun" scenes to converse on that topic.

i was thinking the same thing, but dumbledore's past can be covered in one scene. Specifically the chapter in the book where aberforth hides harry and co. in the hogs head
