Any with captain Phil (I think that is his name). Anyway crazy smoking 3 packs a day captain guy.

Although some of the older ones are not in HD unless that’s ok.

Thought you were referring to Lacy’s game winner.

I used to love this show, the last few seasons have become a scripted mess. The drama is over the top, I get it, there's only so much content you can put out in 20 years.

Some of the stuff seems so outlandish, especially with the captains fighting over territory.

I gave up on it last year. When it was new the drama felt real and probably was as they felt the need to up the ante because the audience had seen every iteration of most of the drama it lost its appeal for me. They did hold my attention for a very long time though.

To answer the OP the earlier seasons were the best (partly because it was new so that might not be the case when you have all the seasons to choose from). The early group of captains were the best IMO as they added boats over the years most of the captains and crew fell flat for me. I consider the early group when they had Sig, Phil, the Hillstrands, and the Colburns. I think Sig and the Hansen boys (and girl) were the only ones that have been on every season.

I did that a couple of seasons before I quit. I still watch some of Bearing Sea Gold and as of last year I just fast-forward to the sections with the Kellys. I am just curious to see what they frick up next. It has to be a work at this point because there is no way after all these years they can be as incompetent as they appear. I watch it with the same interest as I did Gold Rush when Todd Hoffman was on it.

I haven’t thought about deadliest catch in years, used to watch it religiously. I guess sig is the only original captain left?

according to wiki the northwestern has never had an at-sea fatality, in an industry that averages a death per week during the season

He is the only one that even made it to the second season. The Hillstrands and Colburns didn't show up until the 2nd or 3rd season. All three of them were still around the last time I watched.
