Dark Shadows 41 % on Rottentomatoes
Seems a little high

Usually when they advertise a movie THAT MUCH, it will either be very good or incredibly bad. This movie didn't have anything I could garner from the previews that would indicate it would be very good.

Save your money. The Raven was better.

It's really a shame because Dark Shadows is basically a good story. The "new series" with Ben Cross wasn't bad at all, but it was overshadowed by the Gulf War, which had just started, and the show just got shoved to the side and into the trash because of low ratings.

This is a small part of an article from cracked.

In the last 10 years, Johnny Depp has collaborated with Tim Burton on five films. He wore pale makeup and crazy hair in four of those five (the fifth was Corpse Bride, where Depp's character, while made of clay, still had a pale face and weird hair), and while he was always enjoyable to watch, no character really stands out as particularly iconic; they're all mostly just eccentric, and they sound funny.
In this span of time, Depp has created only one character that (almost) everyone unanimously agreed was instantly iconic, and that's Capt. Jack Sparrow (from a film Burton had absolutely nothing to do with), and I'd argue that his only other great movie in this period was Rango, which a) was awesome, b) also had nothing to do with Burton and c) was really awesome. The Pirates movies made more money at the box office than his collaborations with Burton by a wide margin, and I haven't found a single critic who thinks either Burton or Depp have made their best work together in the last 10 years. I'd go as far as to say that Burton's last great movie was Big Fish, which is suspiciously the only move he made in the last 10 years that didn't feature Depp.

Saw it today, and it's horrible. Burton needs to take a break. The story is boring, nothing really interesting happens, and there are a lot of good actors/actreses that are wasted. People are referring to it as a spoof, but spoofs are supposed to be funny. I don't think I laughed once during this abomination.

I enjoyed this, I thought it was funny. If you don't really like Tim Burton films this is not for you.

It wasn't that bad. The trailers made it look like more of a comedy then it really was. Eva Green in that red dress
. I like Burton but he really needs to make an original story for the first time in like 20 years.

I saw it last night and also fell asleep. It had it funny moments but the third act was terrible. They just kind of phoned it in. I also felt the movie had a decent about of plot holes which they haphazardly tried to explain in the final act.
But, I hate to go al Pedobear but Chloë Grace Moretz is going to be a little hottie when she's older.

this.
I enjoyed the look of the film as I always do with Burton and the Collins estate was awesome to look at.
but the movie overall was a let down. I left kinda disappointed.

i agree with the previous posts, it wasnt a great movie. the third act was expecially hard to watch, but there was some funny parts. overall it seems like they figure depp+burton= $$ even if the story isnt especially good. if you still want to see it, wait for dvd. is not terrible, just not very good.

Saw it last night, it was pretty bad. I kind of liked his character. But the movie just sucked, also Michelle Pffier was horrible, sounded like Morticia Addams half the movie.

Also I would like to add the preview that I saw for Frankenweenie at the Avengers looked horrible.
Frankenweenie is also going to be another Tim Burton film that bombs just like Dark Shadows IMO. Seriously, who green lights this crap?

To be fair, the film made 30 million. I hardly call that a bomb especially when going against The Avengers. I mean it made half its budget back in its opening week when you take worldwide gross in account.
