Former tiger Danny McCray on the new season of survivor. Bring on the busted coverage jokes, but one of my favorite players from the Miles era.

How can he possibly be one of your favorite players?

Wasn’t he just a freshman in 2007?

He gets maligned on this board because of that play vs Florida but he had an overall solid college career

He should be better appreciated.

No he’s not an all time great but he wasn’t as bad as this board makes him out to be.

Yet he played in the NFL 6 years longer than you.

I think you meant 2008. He was lit up like a torch that year.

Mccray was cool. I was thinking of Karnell Hatcher for a second who basically fricked us against Arkansas in 2010 with his hit stick on Claiborne

I heard him say he walked on at LSU. Was that true?

A lot of great players have played at LSU and we never saw them hit the field. Danny M was good enough to get on the field and play in the NFL for 6 years. That is pretty damn good

No. I heard an interview with him about his Survivor experience. He wanted to sprinkle in as much truthful autobiographical information as possible, but was scared the other contestants would think he was an elite athlete with millions in the bank if they found out he was in the NFL for several years.

That’s exactly what I thought. Part of the game to have some lies of omission.

Yeah, he claimed he walked on at LSU and never played past college. He didn't want the NFL target on his back.

As a rookie, he made the Cowboys by being the best special teams player on the roster in the preseason. He wasn't just making tackles, he was causing fumbles, recovering balls, and just wreaking havoc of the other team's return men. When he played defense late in the preseason games, he continued to stand out. Some guys on the other teams probably got cut that preseason because of him.

When starters in the DB unit got hurt, he played safety. When more got hurt, he started 10 games in 2012.

I was surprised he made the team as a rookie, but was living in Dallas, saw all of the preseason games, and understood why he did. Was proud to see an LSU guy out there doing whatever he could to help, and make, the team. He's a Houston guy, so I know it was a big deal to make an NFL team in his home state.

I will always remember him for completely losing Peyton Hillis in coverage on 4th & 10 against Arkansas in that triple OT loss

Also I’ll remember him from playing against him in the Rec basketball league and him COMPLETELY dominating, he was on a team with all Football players and was easily the best one. I remember thinking he was better at basketball than football
