Has anyone tried to watch this? The other night I came across it looking for something to watch on Netflix and I turned it off less than 10 mins into it.

Its set in the lower 9th right after Katrina.

Although it is fiction, it was just completely inaccurate in terms of how everything was portrayed.

This is a scene in the movie so if you don't want to know stop reading here..

But there is a scene where the top drug dealer lets someone know to not mess with him by making the dude stick his penis into a cage with a raccoon in it.

With the money they spend on some of these movies, it just seems like they could do a much better job.

Anyone else watched this and thought it was good?

The budget for this was under $10 million. Much of that probably went to Terence Howard, Ethan Hawke, TI, and Eiza Gonzales. We're talking about a very small indie movie, and an indie movie that was not made by or for Netflix. They're just streaming it right now, the same way that they are streaming Catch Me if You Can right now.

But I don't really know what you're referring to in terms of inaccurate portrayal. The raccoon thing is weird, meant to make TI's drug lord feel unique, but I don't know how this moment could be graded on a scale of accuracy.

I wouldn't say I thought it was good. I did think it was fascinating. I thought the main guy's mumbling performance was bad. I thought Hawke's role was poorly conceived. I thought the ending was a total mess. There were some individual moments I really liked, and there were some moments that made me wish RZA got more opportunities to direct dramas.

I've started this "movie" 3x and I'm still probably in the first 45mins. They fail to pull of the N.O.culture aspect of the actors.

I tried watching. It's not good.

Netflix original movies are mostly garbage anyway. Then there's a nice dose of post-Katrina "omg I love this city" sappiness.

No. It premiered in theaters and on vod last summer. It was added to Netflix streaming this month. It wasn't yet on Netflix when I tracked down the DVD in December. Netflix currently has it's streaming rights. That's it.

I'm legitimately worried that people now assume any movie streaming on Netflix was made by or purchased by Netflix.

This is, emphatically, not the case.

Didn’t think it was great by any means, but I’ve seen worse recently. The last scene just didn’t make sense. They went through all the stuff they did to get back where they started just to get back in a jam and go out like that.

The lead detective was just a poor actress. The only person that seemed close to being anyone from New Orleans was the Cowboy. He spoke more like N.O. street talk than any of them. The raccoon scene was stupid.

Again, I’ve seen worse that couldn’t keep my attention at all.
