I love John Williams but he is in his 80s. If they plan to make Star Wars films for many years to come, there is going to need to be a passing of the torch for the next composer. Giacchino has already worked for Disney with Up and with Abrams on Lost. I can't think of a better fit.

He is actually my favorite composer of all time next to Williams. Life and Death and the Oceanic 6 theme can still get me teary eyed to this day.

Has John Williams expressed if he is going to do one last film or work in collaboration with his successor?

This. the lost music is one of the reasons so many people enjoyed the show.

Worked with him on Star Trek. Great score. Same for Incredibles.

He'd do a great job.

Outside of Williams, who else has composed Star Wars music?

Whomever is doing the Clone Wars music might be an option...

Joel McNeely did a companion soundtrack for Shadows of the Empire when it was released in the 90s that was pretty good.

Likely. He did the score for the Star Tours attraction. For Disney.

I think it's likely now, and I'd be in favor of it, as long as they keep the main themes. Love his work.

Williams composed the first three Harry Potter movies so therefore your argument is invalid. However, I feel like it would be a shame if he didn't at least have a hand in some of the music.

The last Potter film came out 3 or so years ago. By 2015, he'll already have a foot in a grave. Would you want to work until you died?
