Or even another gangsta rap movie?
For me, BntH holds up better today and was the best back then.

And for something not as hard core, The Wood is badass

Menace to Society
I've watched that more than the others.
Colors doesn't hold up.
Boyz N the Hood holds up but is too preachy to watch it over and over again.
New Jack City - haven't given it much of a thought since the early 90's.

1. Menace
2. Baby Boy. Always thought it was funny how Boyz in the Hood ends with the stop sign but a decade later Singleton makes Baby Boy and Jody solves all the problems in his life by murdering Snoop.

Friday. Soundtrack is incredible too.
Above the Rim is cheesy, but Tupac is great and it's another killer soundtrack.

Sidenote:
When Colors came out, it was seriously seen as a dangerous movie and news reports were claiming of gang shootings in theaters.
I still can't get over that Children of the Corn ginger in a Cholo gang and his name in the credits is Whitey.
And then Sean Penn says he's the fastest white boy in L.A.
Colors was a growing pains movie of how to marry reality with what Hollywood was. They were trying to make a studio picture with established actors about stuff they knew nothing about but knew they had to make it as mainstream as possible...despite the topic at the time, not being mainstream at all.
