Some powerful performances but Michael Caine steals the show every time he is on screen. I dont know how i havent seen this movie before today.

What do yall think of it?

I saw it as a teenager and thought it was good, but haven't rewatched as an adult. I assume it would be much more meaningful now.

…and still, somehow, Caine was the worst of the Oscar nominees that year (Cruise, Duncan, Law, Osment) and still won. smh

One of those movies that I can't turn off. I watched it recently about 15 years after first seeing it and more things stood out to me that I didn't pay attention to before.

It's always been a favorite of mine but I had no idea Michael Caine won an Oscar for it. If anybody deserved a nomination for that movie it was Delroy Lindo

He's a great actor. Very powerful performance in this movie. But he made you hate the character and Caine's performance made you love his.

If it wasn’t for that one thing, how would you feel about his character?

He’s a very underrated actor.

That is what made it a great performance. He seems pretty honorable except for that one thing. There is a fascinating juxtaposition between his character and Caine's.
