I haven't kept up with this film at all, so I had no idea they were shooting for PG 13 rating. I guess I shouldn't be surprised since everything's neutered these days. Still, I can't help but feel a bit disappointed with this news. How do you feel about war movies being rated PG 13?

This is surprising, I thought PG-13 was the kiss of death or is that no longer the case?

Is there a list I can look at?

I don't look at ratings. I'm not 12.

No longer the case. A lot of movies shoot for this to get the younger audience. Parents are more likely to take their kids to see a PG-13 film.

This is disappointing to me. Of course, it doesn't mean the movie will suck, I think it just won't be as good as I was hoping it would be now.

It's a historical movie. I'd guess that a lot of dads would want to take their kids.

Off the top of my head, I can only think of Valkyrie, Rescue Dawn and Pearl Harbor. I'll look up some others.

I have no idea where you're going with this. It's just a topic of discussion.

My initial reaction:

I mean, I'm not looking for unnecessary blood and gore, but the realism of a movie like Saving Private Ryan is what made it so great.

ETA: Oh yeah OP, do you have a link for this?

By comparison, only 68 R rated movies have made over 132 mil. And that rating has been around a lot longer.

Didn't Nolan say there's very little dialogue in the movie? If so, maybe he's going the Malick-route with this movie like The Thin Red Line.

We don't need a lot of dialogue, just one word in that velvet-smooth limey voice. Just imagine sir Michael Cane saying the f word, isn't it beautiful in your mind? Mr Nolan, make this happen.

I will burn everything down if he does this to Dunkirk.
