Charlyne Yi has spoken out about her experiences of working on "The Disaster Artist," which she said she tried to quit because of accusations of sexual assault against the movie's lead actor and director James Franco.

Yi, who played the costume designer Safowa Bright-Asare in the movie, posted on Instagram on Thursday calling Franco a "sexual predator" and Seth Rogen an "enabler."

Yi wrote that she tried to "break legal contract" and quit the movie because of Franco, but the filmmakers offered her a bigger role in the picture - which Yi said she saw as an attempt at bribery. Insider has reached out to Warner Bros. for comment.

"I cried and told them that that was the exact opposite of what I wanted, that I didn't feel safe working with a f---ing sexual predator," Yi wrote.

"They minimized and said Franco being a predator was so last year and that he changed… when I literally heard of him abusing new women that week."

Yi also wrote that "enablers are just as toxic and are abusers, too," and called Rogen an enabler. "Seth Rogen was one of the producers on this film so he definitely knows about the bribe and why I quit."

quote:

Yi, who previously worked with Rogen on 2007's "Knocked Up," her first movie credit, wrote: "White men saying it's not their responsibility when holding Franco accountable, or when holding Seth Rogen and enablers accountable," Yi wrote. "Then whose responsibility is it? The women and children who have PTSD from Franco? Or the future targets of abuse?"

"White men perform infantilism when it comes to sacrificing their white supremacy and patriarchy because they actually don't give a f---."

I'm sure it's mostly an exaggeration but I'll sit back and enjoy it.

This makes no sense at all

Yep. Nothing will happen to Franco and Rogen because they are buddies of Apatow who is very powerful in Hollywood.

First of all this makes no sense. Second of all, I find it hilarious that minorities in some instances are now painting with such a broad brush that they are accusing all white people of being racist, which is itself racist (I don’t adhere to the new definition of racism requiring “power” - this is just an excuse for some people to be racist toward others without consequence) and now sexual predators are a symptom of white supremacy and the patriarchy. So white people are evil and white men are the Dukes of Hell made incarnate.

I genuinely weep for my son and will not stand idly by as the world around him turns against him for being white and male. fricking asinine.

Yi said she was sharing the post as part of Sexual Assault Awareness month.
Disaster Artist hit theaters 2017. I’m sure she feels virtuous for this but if the two parties are bad apples and deserve to be held accountable, waiting 4 years to raise hell and only doing so during a meaningless holiday month should make clear to everyone this is not a good person with the well-being of other women in mind.

ETA: The Weinstein story unraveled later in 2017. She could have made any claims then and no one would have questioned anything. She actually could have retroactively made a power move on Warner Bros by bringing to light that they fought to not let her out of her contract and downplay the alledged predation. She could have brought far more attention to the studio and any punishment to them and Franco/Rogan could have been more significant. Evidently it wasn't important enough to mention then, weird that it is now.

I lied, now makes perfect sense because there's an excess of circles that award social points for squeezing maximum wokeness into every action and utterance, e.g.
quote:

white men perform infantalism when it comes to sacraficing[sic] their white supermacy[sic] & patriarchy bc they actually don't give a frick
Occam’s Razor is pretty self-evident. The defamation lawsuit’s there for the taking.

It doesn’t even sound like he tried anything on her. More like she heard through the grapevine that he had on other women and tried to make a big stink about it. Secondary assault if you will.
