Characters on The Wire where your opinion swayed the most

(note-didn't get to season 5 yet so don't spoil anything there.)
Bodie-from what we saw in season 1 he was a punk who hit cops and killed a friend. By season four he had matured and proved himself as a loyal soldier. I think so far for me, his death was the hardest to take. The talk with McNulty on the bench just gave me the feeling that he was done. "I feel old."
Herc-He went from the guy with a few funny lines of comic relief to a lazy piece of shite who's damage far reached missing cameras or Fuzzy Dunlap. Carver became the anti-Herc as time went on. That scene with Carver beating the steering wheel outside the group home was awful.
Frank Sabatka- I absolutely could not stand his character at the beginning of season two. By the end you just realize he's a man just doing everything to keep his union and people together. Looking back, his walk to meet the Greeks under the bridge may have been one of the most powerful moments of the series.

the wire is no NYPD Blue, CSI, Law and Order, etc.
if you want to watch one of the greatest shows of all time, hop right in.

eh. i'm undecided on him so far. he starts off with a bang with the changes with police and all the city departments but hits the breaks with the schools.

other than your three(four):
Daniels-negatively
Jay Landsman-positively
Beadie Russell- (way hotter later)
Chris- positively.

it will put any crime based show you have ever watched to shame. it is without question the best show that i have ever seen.

landsman letting bubbles off was the only redeeming thing i've seen from him thus far. that and his eulogy in season 2(i think?).

Landsman is a great character, when you realize later he wasn't the asskisser he's portrayed to be. Also you should pick David Simons book about Baltimore detectives-including the real Jay Landsman who is cast as Lt. Danny Mello.
also on the TV show Homicide Detective Sergeant John Munch is based on Jay Landsman

Just finished season 3 a few minutes ago literally.
stopped reading there
For me, it is Cutty. I see a guy who knows what he should do but is thrust back into the only life he knew before he went away. The man was close to slipping back to what he used to be but he held back. I guess I just identified with his character; but only to a certain point obviously
I can't believe it has taken me this long to finally start watching this series.

I haven't seen the Wire in about 4 years. Currently splitting time between re-watching Mad Men on Netflix and re-watching Deadwood on the computer. Can't wait to go back to the Wire, since I've forgotten a lot of the non-major plot points.
I'll agree that Bodie probably matured more than any other character throughout the series, and was probably the most underrated character in The Wire. He's the shite in S5.

From Marlo's introduction until the last episode or two I thought he was a punk. I was hoping Omar would find him and make an example of him. Then in the jail scene when Marlo finds out Omar was calling him out and Chris didn't tell him....Marlo's reaction was pretty strong. Then he just completely punks those two guys on the corner in his suit after he walks out of that big dinner...my opinion changed.

Namond- although it took me second viewing to really appreciate him.
