My take:
Conway, although not on the show, is as dependent upon opiates as anyone I have ever seen. The dude couldn't last 2 weeks and a contract because he needed his OC 80 mgs and percocets. I would guess he eats about 300-400mg of oxycontin per day.
Adler is day to day...I would be amazed if he makes it. We're talking about a speedballer/heroin shooter for 20 years. I would at least ween him off with some damn dilaudids or vicodins. VERY tough, even with detox, to kick a drug like the brownstone.
Shifty...eh...crackheads are completely different animals from the rest of them. Crack is the strongest high of any drug - a freaking speed train - but it wears off much faster than heroin or anything else. Therefore, Shifty is only content in a certain situation for minutes and then he's gotta move on. Crack is just not something he's ready to give up and he's alluded to that, halfway cunningly to the housemother. What's really tough on him and Adler is the fact that they're blocks away from the strip and the dealers they normally encounter there.
Dick - Seems to be trying to take it seriously. He's down to beer...so he's probably going to have an easier time kicking than he would have when he was a coke/pill head. I have never seen Dick be so genuine and show so much concern for the other housemates. I think he needs to hang out with Rodney a bit more...the only other guy who wants to really get clean.
Amber (I think that's her name) is at a point where she's only comfortable when she's under the influence. That's dangerous as hell. She's not on hardcore drugs, but she's in as much trouble as some of the others. Opiates for the last 16 years? WOW!
The rest of the cast...bleh.

Watching this now - recorded from earlier this morning. I wish they would focus more on Rodney King who seems to want to get better, more than the bs antics of the celebrities.
SPOILERS BELOW:
Seth jacked 300 xanax from some porn star - My question is how does one obtain 300 xanax?
Rodney went back to the spot of his beating and read a letter of forgiveness to the officers who beat him. Pretty touching. WOW, I hope this guy makes it through recovery. I have a totally different feeling towards him than I previously had.

I have no concept on their financial situations. I know Adler got loot from the final lawsuit ended with GNR but how much $ could Shifty really have left? Especially if he is smoking $500 worth of drugs each day. Its not cheap to live in Hollywood. I think Mary Carey's "boyfriend" may have been cruel in his choice of words but he was correct in saying CrazyTown is a memory and Seth aint doin nothin productive. I think he misses his 15 so much he is willing to take his illness public and exploit it to feed his ego and selfishness. I will not b suprised to hear the guy od's or gets involved in some john holmes shite. He is however the most interesting character angle they have shown so far.

Maybe she went to like 4 or 5 different pain management clinics or perhaps she just eats a few and they've accumulated over time. It's Hollywood though, money will get you anything.

no, I think Seth is legit as far as being fricked up out of his mind goes. But yeah, Drew has stepped way over the line of what's ethical IMO. I think he really believes it's OK to exploit some of these people, maybe because he thinks seeing how serious their problems are may help some regular Joe get help that happens to be watching. But it's like he doesn't really give too much of a frick about the people in the house. As far as lawsuits though, I think these people probably signed a shite ton of wavers and for a few of them, this is a way to get back in the spotlight, it's not really about getting better for them. It's very sad.

Oh, I am not saying that Seth isn't fricked up. I am sure he is. I am saying that he plays a different role...probably didn't sign any medical forms...just on the show as a character. Seriously...the show would suck if he wasn't on it and they got Adler clean. That's why I think they had to lure Dick in. They lost Busey, Conway, and Stewart from the 1st show...those three had a lot of people tuning in. Hell, Busey was the reason I started watching.

Yeah this could be. I could see certain people being on here for entertainment only as long as Drew isn't liable. But ultimately, it seems like this is the case with just about everyone, because the more I see, the less I think Drew gives a shite about any of them.

Dick seems to be taking the whole thing very seriously, and Adler will overdose on heroin long before he wastes his millions. At least his wife genuinely seems to have his best interest in mind, and is not just a gold digger.
Rodney was never rich to begin with, Nikki has never actually had a hit song in her career, and Shifty hasn't had a hit song since 2000. I bet Mary Carey is doing alright for now, but most of her income comes from being a feature dancer, and obviously that is not sustainable for more than 5 or 10 years, especially with the way her appearance has changed over the past couple of years.
On Celeb Rehab, Amber admitted to working as a high-end escort last year because she had spent most of her money, and she was no longer getting modeling offers. I was really surprised by that because I imagine she could have gotten a rich husband very quickly. She is pretty easygoing, very attractive, and has incredibly low self-esteem. I can't think of a better combination for a potential trophy wife. I think she actually dated Howard Stern after his divorce.
Clearly she is doing something wrong because she was incredibly excited a couple of weeks ago when she got a call from a hockey player. I assumed he played on the Kings or something like that, but the guy was a MINOR league hockey player. Wow.

I'm still in awe of the whole fricking scavenger hunt shite. But I haven't got to see tonight's episode yet, on DVR and I plan on seeing it in a bit. I agree with you though fwiw.....shite seems very ridiculous.

It seems like Andy Dick has that dough, but I'm wondering how. I guess maybe from residuals for that sitcom he was on, but he hasn't really done anything that made major money(that I can think of).

Yeah, Amber is just lost. She got paid for being good looking. Nothing else. Nobody needed to hep her when she was making money and magazine covers. That's one job where you can stay fricked up and still make money, as long as you use 3/24 hrs per day to keep your body looking good. Hell, she was probably eating 200 dollars worth of OC's/hydrocodone a day. She wasn't shooting...only injesting pills. When you do that for 16 years though...good God. You'd have been better off speedballin' twice a day for a year.

Yep. And I'm surprised she kept her weight down by doing this. usually them pain pills will make you blow up and retain a lot of fluids.

Or do you think that he is greatly exaggerating his substance abuse issues to add more drama to the show? In other words, they faked the story about the cardiac arrest, the heroin, 300 Xanax, crack, etc? I doubt that because the rest of the cast certainly seems to believe Shifty's addiction, and none of those people can act to save their lives besides maybe Andy Dick
I will admit that the video recordings seemed pretty ridiculous, but I think it is far more likely that Seth is just trying to extend his 15 minutes of fame by being as dramatic as he can possibly be. I think his addiction is very real, and he probably did take all of those drugs that led to his cardiac arrest.
