I'm having trouble understanding how Molly Bloom was able to report income of over $4M/year while in NYC running games by paying for these top notch hotel suites, high end liquor, food, the fancy chips, candles, & 1099 her employees all without taking a rake (allegedly before the final 6 months).

Were each of these super rich dudes just tipping her $5000+/night for simply hosting the game & she was savvy as hell with her spending?

My understanding from what I've read of that world is the girls were made rich from the tips. It was a mutual understanding between the patrons and hosts.

Also, in response to the first comment: a hot girl doesn't have to sleep with a guy to get a good tip. Any bar tender or waitress can tell you that. You just have to make the guy WANT to sleep with you. A guy will do crazy things when the want is there. Even I, back in my single days, over-tipped a good looking waitress a time or too because she knew how to flirt and make me feel "special." She also knew she'd never see me again. Now imagine a guy with millions in the bank. Same principle, different denominations.

That may all be true, but the real Molly Bloom doesn't look ANYTHING like Jessica Chastain.

Once again, it was a movie "based on a true story", which is Hollywood's way of saying it's 90% BS. I was intrigued by the movie, so I read the book. Let's just say that Aaron Sorkin exercised full creative license to make the movie more interesting.

So I looked it up after watching the movie. Apparently Michael Cera’s character was based on Tobey Maguire

The real Molly Bloom isn't a dog by any means. I've seen the daytime show interviews with her. More than simple to see that after 12-24+ hours of poker, booze, & drugs that she'd be their Poker Princess.

But my issue is the math. Her reporter income was made public in her book & the news.
In her 1st yeat of games in NYC, before ever taking a rake, she reported over $4M via her incorporated "event planning" company.
It is said she would have as many as 4 games going in a given week.
ROUGH math at 8 players per table at a time (understanding players rotate in/out at a certain table) playing a $200k buy-in @ 5% tip to Molly comes to a ROUGH $320,000 per week. Still, absolutely nothing to sneeze at.

Now, I'm certainly no OT baller at a $200k buy-in weekly game. But I can't see anyone tipping more more 5% a night otherwise she's earning upwards of $750,000+/week.

After paying for a NYC suite of that caliber for the 24-48 hrs, the food, the booze, etc has to knock at least 50% of that down, right? So let's take the $320,000 - 50% = $160,000/week. Are there really that many rich af thirsty mf'ers with cash to burn like that??? Not to mention she claims to have left over $2M in buy-ins on the street from players who didn't pay...

Does anyone know of former numbers or an actual understanding of how she was doing it?

She made a ton of money setting up poker games for rich people... The numbers might of been exaggerated. I don’t understand what else you are trying to figure out.

Brother Jeremy Bloom is even more interesting. World champion skier, All American football player at Colorado, runs a non profit, highly successful businessman, tv analyst, smart as hell, male model—the whole enchilada.

The numbers are public record. So if exaggerated, then the taxes would be wrong. And we all know the IRS isn't about leaving money on the table (pun intended).

I'm trying to figure out how much she was being tipped & how she ran her business. I've run bars, clubs, & a couple of different enterprises in my life. I just can't figure it out. And it's bugging me.

I don’t think the overhead was as high as you think it is.
