I enjoyed the hell out of it. She was spunky.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is wife material.

The show gets better towards the end, once they open up the mythology and start resolving some of the relationship issues.

It is a show that varies wildly in quality. The best Buffy episodes are some of the all time best in TV. The bad episodes, however, are really bad.

Its a lot like Farscape in that regard. The peaks are really high but the valleys are really low.

Buffy did have a loaded cast over the course of its run. Quite a few of which I can't talk about since they haven't appeared yet based on the season you are watching.

It's way up there for me in terms of all time great TV shows -- behind only stuff like Breaking Bad, The Wire, Mad Men, The Sopranos.
Good mix of humor, drama and horror. And all of the female regulars were SMOKING fine.
They were also great about doing season long story arcs and building up a big bad villain. Steven Moffat should have taken detailed notes about this for his run on Doctor Who.
I think how much better it would have been if they only did 13 episode seasons - the weaker monster of the week stories would have gotten dumped and they would have had more money for effects and fight scenes. (It would have also helped if SMG did her own stunts. There are obvious shots in just about every episode of the stunt woman handling fights)

She did some of her own action scenes but I think the producers were terrified SMG would take an errant right cross and be out for a couple of weeks with a concussion.

13 episode season arcs would have helped a lot to get rid of the dead wood episodes I agree. If you only watch the top 13 episodes of each season then Buffy is an absolute powerhouse of a show.

A friend who is a massive Whedon fan told me to watch the Hush episode of Buffy, and that I'd get hooked after seeing that.

It was really good, but it didn't make me want to watch any more episodes.

Loved the show and the movie. Met Kristy Swanson years ago. Shes still hawt. Sweet as hell and funny too.

Have this autographed picture still. Which is among one of my favorites aside from Hayden Panettiere and my Ghostbusters autos.

Have never watched Buffy, but I binged Angel 2-3 times back in college. The universe is entertaining for sure.

That's a legit point. It isn't like big budget movie when you can just stop production if a lead actor/actress is hurt

It’s in my top ten all time. Like any series there are episodes that stunk it up, but the overall story arch was great and there is a satisfying conclusion to the series.

"Hush" and "The Gift" are great episodes. Unlike many shows that start in high school this one transitioned to the college years quite well. I recommend the whole series.

And as someone else said Angel is pretty great as well.

I also recognize that Joss Whedon has gone bat shite insane in recent years.

Once more with feeling is a goat episode contender. I still listen to it on Spotify occasionally.

SMG was one of my first really big celebrity crush (after Winnie Cooper of course)

Is Buffy on Netflix?

Like I said, I’ve seen Angel and liked it. Is Buffy better than Angel? Or about the same? I need a new show right now.
