I also got the feeling that Hank might be an informant to the cartel and that is what is causing his panic attacks.
I also found it suspicious that he moved away from the turtle when he did. I think the new round of attacks is because he will be back in El Paso thus he will be forced to be an informant again.
I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who thinks this.

quote:This is my take on Skyler: When was Skyler the happiest through out this entire storyline? Obviously she was really cheerful when we just met her. isnt it strange that a loving spouse could be such a happy person after finding out her SO has a serious form of cancer? When did she start to turn into a sour-puss?... when Walt started to go into remission! These are signs of a controlling personality.
Skylar....what a twat.
I believe Skyler is the type of person that has to be the ruler of the roost. She needs to have people that depend on her. It gives her a certain level of control over the people around her. Walt Jr. is handicapped and I honestly believe Skyler wouldnt have it any other way. He depends on her. It gives her a reason to be bossy. I bet that as soon as she found out Walt was terminal she perked up inside a bit. Now the wormy little husband she married has to rely on her day in and day out.
Poor Walt is left with the really hard decision: die poor while leaving your family destitute or break the law. More of us would choose to cook than we would like to believe.
As soon as Walt goes into remission while showing signs of becoming a stronger person mentally, Skyler sees her grip on her family slipping away. No longer is her husband dependant on her, but now he’s taking more of a leadership role in everyday decisions. I bet it started to eat her up inside. Now that she is attempting to force Walt into divorce she sees her son pulling away. There’s another dependent leaving her! Thank goodness she has that darling newborn otherwise there would be nobody left that she has control over.
Of course she can’t have this continue. Some have stated that this is a surefire way to make Walt leave her family alone and I agree, but if Skyler was bumping uglies for altruistic reasons should not she pick a man that wasn’t also a criminal. Apparently it isn’t the criminality of Walt that is disturbing her. it is his ability to get along with out her! So she chooses a man that she has some form of control over to cheat on Walt with. After all it is not like Ted is on any type of level footing with Skyler. One call and she can have Ted locked up. Control is Skyler's drug of choice.
So before you start to think Skyler is F.T. for some altruistic reasons just realize she is continuing her pattern of forming relationships with people she can control.

Excellent analysis, Skygod. You can add another element your control theory. Sleeping with a subordinate is a no-no, even if the sex is consensual. If Ted keeps banging Skyler, could it not possibly expose him to a sexual harassment lawsuit if their relationship turns south? In other worlds, Mrs. White has Mr. Beneke by the balls.

You nailed it, Skyler is a control bitch!

Nice analysis, Skygod. I really think you might be on to something.
Tchefuncte et al, tell me more about your theory of Hank possibly being an informant to the cartel. Am I missing something?

Anna Gunn
Her performance on the show thus far has been Emmy-worthy. I hope she's at least nominated for the award. The fact that she plays her part well enough to make so many despise her speaks volumes.
I believe Skyler's hooked-up w/somebody as bad (or worse) than Walt; she will soon realize, like Walt, that she has made a terrible mistake. Her life, like Walt's, is going to go from bad to worse.

It's just a hunch. Somebody had to tip-off the cartel about Tortuga, and it just seemed to be an odd coincidence that Hank was a safe distance away from the exploding tortoise.
This whole show is one big criminal conspiracy. The only one's who's not dirty is baby Holly...but give her time.

So your theory is Hank is working with the boys down in Juarez, tipping them off, in exchange for cash and/or his life?

Yes.

I really like this idea. Man, there's quite a contingent of Breaking Bad fans in this thread who come up with some great theories. They should have us write for the show.
I'm still sticking by my theory that Walter Jr. is going to get his hands on Dad's blue meth at some point.

If I had Walt's smarts and know-how, I'd be cooking the purest meth too and I wouldn't even have to be dying!
Luckily, I'm pretty stupid plus I live in constant fear of our laws so that will never happen.

Vince Gilligan has hinted that everyone, over the course of the show, will break bad at some point. We're seeing that with Skyler now, we're about to really see it with Jesse, and probably Hank, and over the course of the show, Walt constantly makes the "bad" decision.
The best thing about this show is there are no happy endings.

great, he can be the one to hook up with a hot cartel daughter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I wonder if "Straight" Jesse might befriend him and turn him to the "Dark side"? Walt might give Jesse an acid bath if it happens.
Love God's analization of Skyler. It makes her seem like an even bigger bitch. If she gets into the Meth game, she might take over not just Walt's end but also Gus'. I'd hate to become her enemy if she was controling Tuco's cousins.
Tchefuncte’s take on Hank is very beleivable. He seems to be reaching some kind of breaking point. Something is causing it.
Too many guys with shaved heads on the show with Walt, Hank, Gus, Tuco's cousins, Mike and the guy in the bar too! The number of tough bald guys must reflect the make up of the writers.
Thank God someone is trying to make guys that look like me the type of men that should be feared!
Oh yea, I just wanted to let you guys know I love reading your take on the show.

I've always liked Skyler,
i never did like her from the start. In last seasons thread me and a very few were the only people who thought she was just a bitch.
Of course this show makes you root for Walt even though he is a criminal, which in turn makes you dislike Skyler for not understanding.

We're also seeing the reason why he hooked up with Skyler in the first place. Walt is, and always has been, literally adrift in his own little world. He's a brilliant chemist, but that's about it. He's the quintessential "absent-minded professor." He needed Skyler to provide structure and direction in his life; he basically needed a mother. Skyler was more than capable to fill that role.
