Excellent movie and best scene of the movie by far. Very well done. Might need to watch that along with Almost Famous again soon.

Boogie Nights is a masterpiece. It’s about broken people living a deluded life of luxury until reality starts crashing down. Perfect ensemble, and every single character has a full arc at the end. Just phenomenal.

Good post and description.

That entire scene is based on something that really happened between John Holmes and Eddie Nash. Molina is playing Nash.

Very, very loosely based

PT borrowed a LOT from that porn era and it's not just Dirk being John Holmes...a lot of the other characters are modeled after porn stars.

That whole documentary on Dirk done by Amber Waves is totally copied from a real documentary done by the porn industry on John Holmes...exact words and scenes were copied.

Scenes from Jack Horner's movies in the film were apparently copied from real films from that era.

That's why the movie is more of an homage than an original piece.

The underaged girl that overdosed was based on something that happened with Don Henley.

It's amazing how he has never been called out on that, let alone didn't go to prison.

Only in the sense that the murders didn't happen at Nash's house and there were four victims. Holmes may or may not have participated in the killings but he was definitely there when it happened.

I think a guy like him had to have a "clean up" guy in his roladex at all times. What's the back story with him and Cosmo?

My favorites scenes were basically "John C Reilly". This was the first time that I'd seen him in anything.

Has the last few years of the Epstein drama not opened your eyes to what goes on in the dark underworld?

It truly is one of the all-time greats.

And that scene with a young Heather Graham

one of the... most tense scenes
The guy in the thong would make me tense. The dude could at least tie up his robe. I'd have to change clothes as soon as I got home after sitting on that dude's couch.

No, not “only in the sense”, only in the facts, nitwit.

Here are two way more intense drug buys from one movie.

"I think she fix, or she don't walk out of here" on YouTube

Can't find the video, but the country boy drug dealer played by William Saddler was even scarier.

The facts that you laid out in this thread, dipshit? Who can dispute those when they aren't here.

It was loosely based on the Wonderland murders. If you want to say "very, very loosely", have at it. But that's not a fact. That's your opinion.

Burt Reynolds and PTA didn’t get along at all during the filming. Burt got physical with PTA during the filming and they had to be separated. PTA was a young hot shot director and was telling Burt what to do. Burt told him to frick off and tried to walk off set towards the end of the movie.

I recently read or heard that Burt never watched Boogie Nights after making it.
