The world building was second to none, IMO. And the sets were gorgeous.
It was just a fun series overall. No one else I know has watched it because no one else I know has Starz, but it is certainly up there in terms of great shows recently.
Jack Rackham was one of my favorite characters in some time as well.

One of the main creative/historical consultants for the series was my fencing coach in college, Benerson (Ben) Little. He's published several non-fiction/historical books on Piracy for folks who are interested in the subject.
Great series though.

Black sails was great and there was originally talk of a spin off of Long John Silver. I really wish they would go ahead with this.
