I don't get how people can skip over Paul knowing what Jess said in her diary session.

The problem with putting players like Paul or even Vanessa in the list of top players is that in just the past few years the makeup of the players in the house has completely changed.
It used to be all fans, or people that were just all in for the 500k.
Since Twitter etc has blown up you now usually end up with at least half of the house that truly just cares about being on TV to set up a career outside of the house, establish or grow their "brand", or whatever.
Back when Will, Boogie, Janelle, Dick and those players were playing every single person was going all out to win the money. Now it seems like almost an afterthought to most of these wannabe social media butterflies.
It's sort of like the reverse of sports. Today's athletes are bigger, faster, stronger, but in BB, the players today are dumber, lazier, and more vapid.
Makes those old casts look much more impressive imo.

I went back and watched starting at 8:54 BBT (10:54 CT), he was talking to Mark about the reason Julie asked Jess how she was feeling there at the end of the episode, and he made the comment that Julie asked her that because she knew that Jess had been trashing Josh all week in her DR sessions, and Julie knew Jess was expecting Josh to go home. It's a logical assumption on his part considering how Josh has acted toward Jess & Cody and how much they hate him.
