I feel really guilty that I wished bad things to happen to Aaryn when she left the house and then it actually happened.

I expected a little something. But not that.

I don't feel bad but I def have no desire to see her go through any more shite. That interview was brutal enough of a lesson

Well you should because it only happened because you wished it to happen.

Yeah I was conflicted. I don't think she's evil or overtly racist, but she's clearly a young, immature, mean girl, that is not the brightest. Also very sheltered.
I think it's more of a latent racism based on kids in a sheltered area thinking it's humorous to make fun of stereotypes, which is a big problem in our culture imo.
She's also a typical sorostitute mean girl too, so her ill advised attempts at humor against people she doesnt like, not necessarily based on race, just because she thinks shes better than most people in general, come off even worse.
So that realization of how other people view her actions and words truly hit her like a ton of bricks.
It was genuine shock, confusion, and fear.
I only hope she responds with genuine remorse and acceptance, and not with bitterness and self justification as many people do in such moments. She already seems to be on good terms with Helen, so her time in the jury house with Candice decide how she's remembered. I hope she is sincere in her attempt to apologize.
How she responds may very well change the course of her entire life, and I really don't think I'm overstating this.
It was a crazy moment to see play out on live TV.

AND NOW she has to go sit in the jury house with Helen and Candice and rewatch every episode.
They aren't allowed to watch until after the show is over. It would kinda defeat the purpose of their game plan if they let the jurors know all the lies they've been told.

They railroaded the girl they knew was weak. Wish they would have someone outspoken and would just say ya it was a joke or ya we were fighting at time I go for the throat.
Now go eat some rice Julie I'm outta here

I think this is where the publicist her mom hired is going to save her arse. That ended up being a genius move.

I felt like it was piling on. She made her bed, and her actions in the house already caused her to lose her job and damage her reputation. Having that little "gotcha" segment was superfluous and served no purpose but to allow indignant viewers to get some sense of catharsis for the things Aaryn said.
Truth is, Aaryn is a naive, narrow-minded young woman. Should she have known better than to make those comments? Of course. Do I think she was being insensitive? Certainly. Do I think she meant most of what she said maliciously? No.
I'm still amazed she's the one singled out when a number of different houseguests have said as bad or worse. Crap, Gina Marie's adoption comment(s) and Amanda's actions this past week are vastly more offensive to me than Aaryn's poorly thought out jokes.
Aaryn screwed up in the house and has very real repercussions to face once the finale is done. That line of questioning tonight was totally unnecessary.

I dont mind that they did it to her, I wasn't expecting Julie to quote her though, that kind of blew me away. CBS needs to do it to Amanda and GM as well though.
IMO what Spencer said wasn't that bad.

What is going on with HOH? Can't watch
Posted on 8/29/13 at 9:27 pm to SCTmo
I agree with your whole post. She made tasteless jokes but tonight was not necessary. It was the definition of beating a dead horse. That was her whole exit interview.

Showing trivia at the moment. Will cut in once HOH is won or perhaps as competition is winding down.

Just showing fish and trivia.

GM won HOH. Goodbye McRanda please.

Beating a dead horse?
That was the first and only time Aaryn will be asked those questions. Is reading back her own quotes she made in the house going overboard now?
If Julie doesn't ask those questions tonight, they never get asked. Her comments were the main story on the show for like the first 3 weeks. There was nothing vindictive about what was asked.

I mostly agree here.
But I do think Julie had to talk about it. It was a big part of season's storyline.
But to me what made it most distasteful was the crowd reaction. Had it been a one on one interview, I wouldn't have minded it at all.
But throwing her in front of the firing squad was cheap and opportunistic imo. Like you so eloquently said, it was like some cathartic excercise that came off just as mean spirited as Aaryn's comments did weeks ago.
This show has a responsibility to help their participants adjust upon exiting the house, and that public trial by mob was the exact opposite of protecting their delicate re-entry to the world.
Aaryn is in a very precarious moment, and CBS did her no favors for sure.
