You have three movies that have consistently been on Sight and Sounds Top 10 forever...846 critics, programmers, academics and distributors votes.

Including the current #1, Vertigo.

1. Vertigo (1958)
3. Tokyo Story (1953)
6. The Searchers (1956)

If you've never seen The Searchers or On The Waterfront, those are probably the two with the widest appeal and most praise. I'd also include Ben-Hur (about 4 hrs long) and Rebel Without A Cause.
