This is kind of sappy, and I can't link youtube at work, but there is a 30 second scene in Mulan where the Dad talks to his daughter. He says
"Look, this flower hasn't opened yet, but I'll bet when it does, it will be the most beautiful"
It took me a while to realize that in 30 short seconds, Disney's magic had perfectly explained Mulan and her father's relationship. As someone who has a daughter, it has always stuck with me.
And I almost choke up everytime I think about it. Because it makes me think about my daughter. And what kind of father I want to be.
Speaking of Disney, the opening scene to The Lion King is incredible. There aren't even words spoking and the entire movie is set up. Amazing.

The ending of Ran with the Lord trying to hold on to everything he's got.
I completely agree about the opening scene of Inglorious Basterds. Not my favorite Tarantino movie as a whole, but probably my favorite single Tarantino scene.
The multiple detective scenes in Dial M for Murder.
Very underrated sports scene IMO is Billy Bob Thortons speech in Friday Night Lights.
When juror #2 finally cracks in 12 Angry Men.
Didn't really stir up any emotions for me unless badass is an emotion, but when the police come to bust Marv in Sin City and he just wears them out. He gets to his probation officers house and she asks "did you kill any Marc?" And he says "No. But they damn sure know they were in a fight."

your mulan post made me think of the beginning of Up.

That is the scene that came to my mind when I was reading your post. I've probably listened to the audio book version thirty times and while the movie sticks faithfully to the book Javier Bardem makes it come alive.
Since that is taken a scene I never get tired of:
Sword fight - Princess Bride

I am huge fan of the closing scene in Field of Dreams where Ray and his dad are playing catch.

This isn't my favorite scene in a movie... but a scene that made a recent movie for me
The Hurt Locker when he's back stateside... and after all of the insanity he's looking around this immaculate well stocked grocery store in which everything is orderly, ordinary, and unchanged
To me that snapshot was intended to encapsulated the craziness of coming home from a war zone... to return stateside to an environment where they have no comprehension or even echo of teh existence of what he and the other soldiers had gone through

I'm a fan of the gladiator scene where he takes off his helmet and says his name

Good call. I think it also showed how the main character couldn't make sense of the "order" of ordinary life.
I will also say the hallway fight scene in Inception with JGL was pretty epic as well.

There are some great ones mentioned in this thread. I like the street scene in the pouring rain in "Road to Perdition" as well.

That rain scene is Perdition was one of the first ever to show me that great visuals can be just as powerful as any dialogue.

Wow, there's a bunch of movies mentioned in this thread that i have yet to see. Maybe I need to get out more
Another one of my favorites is the opening scene in The Dark Knight:

Another one I really like is the whole robbery scene in "Heat" Something about the sound and action that seems to make it extra intense.

Lots of good one's mentioned already. I like the last scene in Unforgiven when Clint kills everybody and makes his way out of town.
"You better bury Ned right!... Better not cut up, nor otherwise harm no whores... or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons of bitches."
Awesome.

Not the best I've ever seen but, of the movies I've watched lately, one of the last scenes in "Training Day". You know when D Washington calls Jake a "disloyal, fool-arse, bitch-made punk" or something like that. Well anyway, that whole scene was really good.
I agree about the Godfather movies. Lot of great scenes in those.
