Rollerball (the original James Caan version, not that reboot crap).

The way, in the midst of all the death and destruction, he skates and walks over, last man standing, and perfunctorily puts the ball in the goal.

The coldly impersonal scoreboard silently registers a digital "1".

As he skates away, the crowd begins to silently chant his name, getting louder and louder with each repetition, until it reaches a thundering crescendo:

jonathan.. jonathan..
Jonathan! Jonathan!
JONATHAN!! JONATHAN!!

And James Caan as Jonathan E skates faster in a victory lap as the cheers get louder, finally triumphantly skating forward and filling the camera frame--

freeze-frame. Cue the Bach.

Not a movie but the ending of that South Park episode where Stan coaches the little league hockey team.

The Best of Times- Robin Williams(Jack Dundee) finally getting his redemption by catching the game winning TD from QB Kurt Russell(Reno Hightower) against their arch rival after dropping the game winner 15 yrs earlier. That ending gives me the feels everytime I watch it.

What does is, the decision by Doc Graham to leave it all behind and cross over to help the little girl.

This, absolutely.

Second only to Gary Cooper's speech in Pride of the Yankees.

That movie captured the feeling of defeat perfectly.

I don’t think it was even the ALCS. I think it was just a one game tiebreaker in the division, which was probably done that way for dramatic effect. One huge do-or-die game to slay the dragon once instead of glossing through a series in which Haywood hits more bombs off Vaughn until Game 7.

Major League 2 was the ALCS.
