Being "Quantum Leap" was eyed for a reboot (Peacock Network) who would you cast?

In the 2020s, hypothetically who would you cast in the Dr Sam Beckett and Al Calavicci roles?

I love the series, and imo it is one that still has so much potential with that specific story format.

Instead of a reboot, they just need to bring Scott Bakula back so the original ending isn't what we're left with.

He had jumped into a starship captain and csi guy while the show was on hiatus.

Damn. I was actually going to start a thread on Quantum Leap this week. I'm finishing up my first binge of it and it's actually a great series. Much better than I expected.

Sam Becket never returned home was the lamest ending ever.

1. Don’t. Just leave it alone.

2. Reboot Sliders instead. It was good but not nearly as good as QL.

Always though the episodes of him being back at the farm as himself, and all the shite with his brother would have made a better finale.

Him getting the ultimate reward of knowing to set right what once went wrong in his own life, seeing his family and loved ones again, and getting a real second chance to help those most important to him. His brother, his father, sister and mother.

Saving that episode, Sam Beckett iterally going "back home"

Eta

Just remembering the early episode, when he realises the year he is in, he randomly calls his dad on a phone to hear his voice..I mean, I think we would all struggle not to do things like that.

Often wondered if he should have alterted people (like his father, or people Sam trusted) to what was going on. So he could have someone else besides Al to have his back when situations got risky.

Different time periods with these people would equal different points in time of trust lol..but with him backing everything up with facts.. would be strange (and at times comedic) for them to at times be helping a different rando claiming to be Sam beckett

You can't do this show again.

No longer acceptable to jump into someone of another race, gender, sexual preference, religion, developmental status...

Ain't gonna' happen folks.

Ironically, Sam fought for people who would be considered “marginalized”, but would probably be demonized by today’s sjw culture for wearing a dress or “acting” black.

Scott Bakula's "Sam Beckett" can't be replaced by another actor. To do so would be a freaking train wreck.

My vision in a reboot would be that AL has either died due to old age or something and Sam needs another companion. I would make either Sam's daughter or son that was conceived on the one episode where he and Al swapped places and he at a little time with his wife. The story could be that Sam's life has been kept secret from his kid with a cover story of Sam having died when his kid was a baby perhaps. The kid could take over Al's job as Sam's companion to get to know his/her dad through the leaps...

..What if they somehow got switched, and sam had to take the role of Al to help his child?

I don't know why, but i remember the halloween episode where Al is the devil, and there are goats everywhere, scaring the shite out of me as a kid.

It’s currently on the Comet network. Three episodes a night.

It’s glorious.
