My 10 year old son is a huge fan of the Godzilla movies and asked that I take him to an actual theater to see Godzilla vs Kong this Saturday night. We haven't been to a theater since Covid. For those of you that have been lately, how was it? Did you have to wear a mask through the entire show? Do they require it but not enforce it? Between the one on Perkins Rowe and the one on O'neal, which should I choose? Those 2 were the ones we usually would go to before.

tldr; Which movie theater in Baton Rouge is not going to make me wear a mask throughout the entire movie?

I took my 8 year old to see it at Perkins Rowe opening night, he's also a huge Godzilla fan. We wore masks until we were seated and then took them off. I'm not sure what the social distancing rules are, there were other people on our row but not within 4 or 5 seats of us.

It was our first time in a theater since covid and felt nice and kinda normal.

AMC 16 off O’Neal has a Dolby theater. If Dolby is an option, see it there as it’s really well done. We saw Endgame there and it was an incredible experience.

Saw Tenet at the Clearview AMC in Metairie and didn’t have to wear a mask in our seats. It was pre-reserved seating though so check into that.

I've been to Perkins Rowe a number of times. You wear a mask when you're out in the lobby, but once seated in the theater you can take it off. There's no one checking to make sure you have it on if you're not eating. I think they block off two seats on either side of your party.

Thanks for reminding me about that. I just purchased the tickets. That's definitely the best quality in BR for a show with good sound effects.

Perkins Rowe is my old faithful. The Movie Tavern is closer to me but it had really declined before the pandemic. I saw Nobody at Perkins Rowe with a friend last weekend and we had the entire theater to ourselves with 1 other guy. Staff was polite and we were maskless the entire time in our seat.

I'm kind of the same way with perkins Rowe but I quit going to movie tavern in br a while back. I'd drive all the way to the one on juban to avoid br, and I live west of the river. I found movie tavern distracting while watching a movie, but if it was a kid movie I didn't really care about that I was bringing my son and a couple of his friends then it was perfect.

We saw it tonight. It was great! That dolby theater that AMC on Oneal has is freaking awesome. That's definitely my new go to in the BR area from here on. Had to wear a mask throughout but nobody bugged us during the movie about it. We were munching on popcorn and there was only 5 people in the theater including us. Was nice to get to the theater again.

I've seen 6 films at 3 theaters since all this stupidity. I've never worn a mask in a theater. Have you been told to put one on while sitting in a theater?
