I'm starting to get more excited about BvS.

Affleck is going to kill it. I like that the DC universe is being setup where there is a consequence to the actions of heroes, and the villains represent a meaningful threat.

what specifically has you excited about AoA?(honest question)

Michael Fassbender. He's been phenomenal as young Magneto.

This might be the greatest scene of any comic book movie ever:

It's one of my favorite scene of all time accross genres.

On a side note:
Fassbender is just fantastic at what he does. His scene in the basement in Inglorious Bastards and that scene I posted are great. Then you add in roles like Frank. I'd watch anything the guy put out right now and I think it's criminal that he hasn't been James Bond yet.

McAvoy has been a solid Prof X as well. I've really enjoyed the last 2 x-men movies. First class and DoFP were great.

I'm also partial to x-men as x-men and Batman were hands down and far away my two favorite comics growing up.

This is the entire reason I'm going to see the movie. I'm very excited about Affleck and the stand alone batman movies after.

I just finished rewatching the animated Under the Red Hood, and I've been rewatching Batman:TAS on Amazon Prime.

With DC establishing the universe with an older batman, an established batman, a darker universe, and actual death, they are poised to make some phenomenal Batman movies. I really hope they don't frick it up.

That's not the opening to The Winter Soldier...

or TDK robbery scene

or the Iron Man desert scene.

It's better than that. I will say I'm very excited that the Russo Bothers are directing the next installments in Marvel Universe.

TDK robbery scene

One of my top 3 favorites.

Let me clarify, what I really meant was the assault on the shield aircraft carrier that culminates with the fight between Batroc (GSP) and Cap.

Also, I believe we've had an ongoing discussion and after Secret Wars without question Doom >>>>>> Magneto

frick Fox Studios for what they continue to do to Doom. He could carry an entire movie himself and is one of the greatest Marvel characters of all time and they have not come close to doing him justice. However, Magneto will always be my all time favorite Villain.

I really loved that scene. For the first time in any X-Men movie up to that point, I could understand why some people believe Magneto to be the greatest comic book villain of all time. While I love Ian McKellan and his performances in the other X-Men films, the character he was given just didn't seem all that menacing.

Here he is for the first time being cold, blunt, and ruthless. I loved that scene.

Is he really a villain though? Hell the movies and the comics paint him more as an anti hero more and more....

hell he hasn't been a villain in the comic books for a decade now. He is a leading his own team of X-Men at this point.

Doom, on the other hand, has always manipulated anyone around him due to his unstoppable ego. Magneto serves a cause. Doom serves Doom.

Kang, when they get him right, is by far my favorite.

Am I the only one looking forward to Apocalypse the most. The X-Men prequels have been consistently excellent. Neither of Apocalypse's predecessors had much anticipation going into it, but they knocked them both out of the park.

My issue isn't with Affleck being Batman, it's Jesse Eisenberg as Luther. That's where I get the bad feeling.

I'm looking forward to AoA moreso than DoFP, and the trailers are fantastic, however, I'm a Cyclops fan and dislike what they've done with the character. Cyclops is the core of the X-Men and the entire narrative behind them, even more than Professor X. Focusing around Wolverine was a big issue for me (but AoA looks to rectify that, maybe).

Interviews are claiming it's just as much Scott and Jean's story as it is Xavier's and Magneto's.

I would hope so. And I think Sheridan was a good choice, but he's still a little young. It would be nice to use this as a wipe the slate moment, but that's a discussion for another thread

IMHO: The greatest scene of any comic book movie ever would be Steve Rogers jumping on that grenade. It's 77 years of superheroes condensed down to one selfless act.
