I've loved the MCU storyline thus far and wigged out when I saw Thanos at the end of the first Avengers film, but I have a continuity question that has been bugging me. In the first Thor film, as sort of an easter egg, they showed the Infinity Gauntlet resting in Odin's vault. Now we see Thanos going after the gems. How is it that the gauntlet was in Odin's vault, yet the gems have apparently been apart all of this time and are being sought out? I hope they explain this somehow, otherwise it seems like a huge oversight. My friend has a bigger issue with it being right-handed than everything I just mentioned, but I got over that. Figured Odin's a righty while Thanos is a lefty (or vice versa).

BTW, I would absolutely love a film version of Thanos Quest (adapted to current storyline, of course).

yeah, as the other dude said. Dere be 2. One righty, one lefty.

The gems on the hand I have no idea about. Unless it was originally just supposed to be a non future movie's setup easter egg. Then Thanos happened later.

So are there two sets of stones? I don't really care much about the gloves.

Nope Nope

Only 1 in the comics, and they lost their chance to say there 2 in the MCU during GotG. When The Collector explains the origins of the Stones.

I didn't think there was an afer credit scene so I didn't stay.

All they did was show Thanos?

Read that. I'm still wondering about the stones. They're all that matters. I think we may have a screw up, although I'm sure they'll come up with something. Since the tesseract doesn't show up until Captain America, time wise of think they could say the stones were taken, but The Collector's story does seem to contradict the idea of two sets of stones.

Could the one in the vault be a decoy?

I could possibly accept that.

It's actually pretty easy to explain. The clues are all there.

The Asgardians teach their youth certain things as fables, but more importantly as warnings.

It stands to reason that both Bor and Odin knew the terrible danger anyone with the full power of the Infinity Gauntlet would pose to all of the realms so they constructed a replica as a "teaching aid"

Also, Asgardians clearly do not have a high opinion of the Kree or those associated with them.

Here are the three major clues if you're paying attention:

Thor: The Dark World - Bor never told his son that the Aethir never left Svartelfheim.

Agents of Shield episode "Who you really are" - The disdain, if not outright disgust in Sif's voice when she's speaking with Val-Tak (she never uses his name, just calls him "Kree" in a mocking, disrespectful tone)

Age of Ultron - How could Thor possibly know that FOUR Infinity Stones were revealed (including the one from Guardians of the Galaxy) unless Asgard received that information from the Collector or the Nova Corps.

So we know that the following stones are out there:

Mind (Yellow: Loki's Staff - Vision)
Space (Blue: Tesseract)
Reality (Red: Aethir)
Power (Purple: Orb on Xandar)

That leaves the Soul and Time Stones (Green and Orange)

Key owners of each in the comics:

Soul - Adam Warlock, Doctor Strange
Time - Thor, Gamora

The reason I've put those names in bold is because the soul stone will likely be introduced in Doctor Strange (Eye of Agamotto perhaps?) and the time stone will likely be used by Thor to reverse Ragnarok in the next film (which is why it's being called a "game-changer")

Interesting take on those. We'll have to see if they pan out...

I saw some bizarre theory that the first letters of all of the items containing the stones spell out THANOS

Tesseract
H
Aethir
N
Orb
Scepter

That would make the Norn (magical rock in Norse Mythology) a reveal in Thor: Ragnarok

A big reach would be to call one of Strange's items Hellstrom's (Amulet)

Easy fan-wank: Odin didn't like the look of a gem-less Infinity Gauntlet in his vault so he had the royal jeweler/glassblower whip up some fake infinity stones to put on it to make it look purty.
