I personally prefer my films to be a little more personal.
Thanos/Gamora and Tony/Peter scenes were pretty fricking personal...

Vision/Wanda as well.

When she does what she does...that was a tough fricking scene.
I do think Thanos was genuine in his sympathy and respect. I also think she got dusted by his choice, to ease her pain (and to take a major threat off the board).

Oh, I agree. Those were some truly great scenes. Be that as it may, we all know those scenes will be undone by Endgame. That kind of lessens the impact for me a little bit.

I don't think I've seen that in a movie before.
And it would have had a larger emotional impact if I didn't already know that everything that happened in Infinity War will be undone by Endgame.
quote:This, unfortunately, is because of Disney's handling of the overall (very lucrative) property, by them announcing it. Although they can announce more movies, because WE KNOW the heroes can't die. Because they are HEROES.
We already know that Spider-Man, Black Panther, and the Guardians of the Galaxy are getting sequels despite the fact that they were all killed at the end of Infinity War. And we also know Loki is probably not dead either as he's going to have his own live action show on Disney's streaming service. While the villain won you left the theater with the sense that he didn't really win.
But I would say this- although we know the heroes return, it's not through any fault of Infinity War. That doesn't tip us off.
If you had the balls to do it, that is the movie you can watch, then quit watching the MCU, and have a sense of closure. You can now quit if you want, because it CAN be over. We might see a small dropoff for Endgame, because there probably ARE people just tired of the MCU, and this gave them the chance to exit.
Think about it: based solely on the movie, we don't know any hope of survival. There's no Easter Egg to tell us that people come back. You might say "wait, Captain Marvel..." , but consider that. Yes, Nick Fury does get the page off before he disintegrates. Yes, there's an upcoming Captain Marvel movie. But that's set in the 90's. We all assume she's going to come save the day in Endgame, but for all anyone knows, SHE'S gone too (now, wouldn't that be a twist

Not a chance. If that was the case, Thor wouldn't be here.
It was random b/c he believes what he's doing is the right thing, and he isn't controlling it to that extent.
It wasn't random b/c it's a movie and they want the original Avengers to have their swan song in Endgame.
