The Marvel brand is strong as frick. The only thing they can sell Avatar on is "And NOW, the follow up to THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE OF ALL TIME!"

Is it possible that this is why Disney released EG just weeks away from Pikachu, Wick, Aladdin and Godzilla?

Or is that thinking like a conspiracy theorist?

It's still an unbelievable achievement. EG is a culmination of 22 films. Avatar was just a stand alone film.

Avatar needs an asterisk anyway. Ticket prices were 30% higher because of the 3D glasses.

Pretty sure endgame is the highest grossing IMAX film of all time. Combined with inflation... Don't think asterisks are valid.

Only thing about Avatar is that it had a rerelease.

However that is dwarfed by the huge increase in theaters in China. Endgame did 625 million in China alone. China only had like 4000 theaters when Avatar came out

Endgame is James Holzhauer to Avatar's Ken Jennings.

They shined so brightly, so fast, only to burn out just $hort of the record.

The Chinese run was also cut short, wasn't it?

It got a typical release run of one month, it just did not get the usual extension of about a week or so.

Probably took a few million of the box office total, possibly upwards to 5. But not enough to make the up the difference with Avatar.

Endgame still has another 2 months at the box office in North America plus the rest of the coutries it's still trickling out money to make the 50 million, it's not out of the realm of possibility ... especially if the bigger market theaters do a double feature gimmick with Spider-Man.

Unless they do a re-release at some point in the future, no it does not have $50 million left in the tank. It just made around $8 million worldwide this weekend. It's been dropping close to 50% every weekend, that means next week is $4, then $2. Tell me how that equates to another $50 million dollars? It's not gonna just stay in theaters for another two months as the market floods with more summer fare and it's making hardly any money. Theaters are going to push it out. It's currently in 2,000 theaters, less than half its opening amount. And it's gonna keep shedding them.

No you said it can get to $50 million, then said especially if they re-release with Spiderman. I'm addressing the fact that, no it will not get an extra $50 million without a re-release with Spiderman.

I don't understand the confusion here. I am disagreeing with your take that Endgame is going to be in theaters for two more months and can possibly trickle out $50 million more with or without some kind of re-release.

Domestically, it probably has $20 mil left. The international market is the problem because it's practically finished there.

This, the chance of it making another 50 million in it's first run is basically zero now.

Marvel has never done a re-release, but maybe they do a special edition next year with added seasons to push another movie.

Zero chance they do anything with Spiderman this year, way too soon.
