Well that would be dumb. It would be interesting to see how they would handle the infinity gauntlet[/quote]
Not saying Thanos would be a normal guy, if it takes both the Hulk and Thor to punch you in your face to knock a character out, they are probably a powerful character

Thanos is going to get a new army (Skrulls please) and lead them himself into battle on Earth.
Are the rights to the Skrulls with another studio? Kevin Feige,Marvel Studios President, says this :
quote:
Yes, Skrulls have a big connection to Fantastic Four. So there are some contractual limitations about who can do what when it comes to Skrulls. Though that is not why we didn’t do Skrulls. There is already enough going on in this movie.

Marvel can use them if they want to. Hell they can reference all of their other properties if they so desire, they just can't use them in their movies.

Thanks for clearing that up, alter!

Any chance of the studios working together or do you think that would make things a cluster frick?

Marvel/Disney would love it but Fox and Sony want no part of it.

The director has said that he plans on making the film smaller in scope than the original and focus more on developing the characters.

I've read this too which makes me think that they 2nd will be a lead in for the 3rd where Thanos will ultimately come to blows with the team. I expect he'll appear in a bigger role in the 2nd but probably just send someone else to do the dirty work and finally decide to do it himself in the 3rd when all else has failed.
That's pure and baseless speculation of course.

Am I the only one that thinks they don't need any more avengers characters? Maybe one or two, but if more then you lose screen time with a character and don't establish a connection

Needless to say, Thanos does not get along well with The Avengers. In the comics, he obtained the Cosmic Cube (the blue box of energy that Loki stole in the movie), and it gave him godlike powers. The Avengers teamed up with Spider-Man and The Thing in order to stop him. Later he gained control of the Infinity Gauntlet, a glove studded with gemstones that gave him control over time, space, and reality. To impress Mistress Death, Thanos kills all of the superheroes on Earth (though, of course, they eventually come back).
In an interview with /Film, writer/director Joss Whedon discussed why he wanted to include the character in "The Avengers." Whedon said, "He for me is the most powerful and fascinating Marvel villain." He went on to joke, "He's the great grand daddy of the badasses and he's in love with death and I just think that's so cute." He explained that he wanted to have someone behind Loki's machinations in the film, and that Thanos was the character in the Marvel Universe that fit the bill.
There's no word yet on when we can expect "The Avengers 2," but "Iron Man 3" is slated for release less than a year from now on May 3, 2013. "Thor 2" will follow on November 15, 2013, and "Captain America 2" is scheduled for April 4, 2014.

This makes sense. The first film kind of had to be them coming together and facing a imminent threat. The army they faced could be pretty much anonomous except for Loki and the character strokes of the heroes could be painted pretty broadly.
For the second movie, I'd kind of like to see the team (or at least 1 or some of them who calls the others to help) start the movie in the midst of a battle with some beings with intersting powers - The Zodiac perhaps or some version of the Masters of Evil or maybe the Wrecking Crew (the WC doesn't have a variety of powers but they are kind of interesting).
Not sure where I'd like to see it go after that first battle though.

Masters of Evil
This is the villain I'd prefer to see and it would be easy to set up. Zemo in Capt America, Enchantress/Executioner in Thor, Crimson Dynamo in IM3, whatever villain shows up in Hulk or use Abomination who was in Norton's Hulk which is canon. Whichever individual movie comes out last before Avengers 2 should have a post credits clip of them meeting together and there you go.
I'm fine with Thanos but we need a new story and not another alien invasion and no to the infinity gauntlet. It's too powerful. You could power it down a bit for the movie I guess but I'd still much rather see the Masters of Evil.

I just wish they had Spiderman's glut of villains to draw from.. most of which would seemingly transfer to the big screen well.
Shocker
Rhino
Kingpin
Mysterio
Venom
Carnage
Lizardman
But I guess I was always a much more avid reader of spiderman comics as a kid so they come easier to me.

Or do you credit his creation to someone like Tony Stark? As if he was trying to make a fully functioning suit that did not require human control. And how to you seperate that from similarities to Iron Man 2?
I think you could do both easily. Introduce Hank Pym in IM3 as a collegue of Tony Stark. Make references to a project they are working on together involving independent AI and armor (possibly using the remains of the Destoyer Armor from Thor).

I think they'll have to add some other heros to fight Thanos if they keep him as powerful as he is in the comics. Maybe Ms Marvel or Pym or someone like that. Thank God someone else has the rights to the Fantastic 4. I don't want that junk clogging up a good movie.

Pretty sure they merged Dynamo with Whiplash in IM2.
How about Mallen from Extermis plot? or Spymaster. Or the criminal organizations AIM or Maggia?

I have been going back and forth on where Pym works. In Thor, Dr.Selvig mentions two colleagues of his familiar with gamma radiation 1-was never seen again (Hulk reference), the other worked with S.H.I.E.L.D. (according to the Internet it was Pym).

I think you could have him working for S.H.I.E.L.D. and still have Tony in the mix, particularly if they are working with the remains of the Destroyer Armor. Obviously somebody is working with the Destroyer Armor for S.H.I.E.L.D. because Coulson said that's were the gun he used on Loki came from in The Avengers.
