Casting is intriguing

Yeah, I may have to back off my initial "meh" knee jerk reaction on casting. I like Austin Butler, and think he has the acting chops for an interesting Crockett. It's really Michael B. Jordan I've always been "meh" about but he's a decent enough actor. I thought Sinners was very good. Using Philip Michael Thomas as the archetype for Tubbs is difficult because there really isn't an actor out there that has the qualities he brought to the role. Definitely harder to cast than Sonny. I'm also interested in who they're going to cast in supporting roles. Maybe I'll think about it and kick out some ideas.

Terrance Howard is absolutely perfect for the role

Similar mannerisms and slow, smooth speaking patterns

Watch Howard's scenes opposite RDJ in Iron Man.

He is a bit old, and has apparently quit acting

I like MBJ, so his casting is the most intriguing. It may sound odd, but I think he has way too much presence to play Tubbs. But he is a professional actor, so maybe he finds a way to tone it down?

I've always liked Terrance Howard just because he's got a different type of low-key cool to him. He was far superior as James Rhodes than bland-arse Don Cheadle. MBJ doesn't really do chill. Fifteen years ago Howard gets the Tubbs role. Chadwick could have played Tubbs.

Sorry, not sorry, I adore Nathalie Emmanuel. They could always go with Zendaya.

Fun fact - Trudy is married to Bubba from Forest Gump. They met on the set of Miami Vice.

More fun facts, they got married in 1983 and divorced in 1985.

More fun facts - His character, Leon, was set up to be a snitch and was killed by Calderon’s hit man (Martin Ferraro) who later in the series played Izzy, Crockett and Tubb’s regular CI and comic relief for the show. The actor also played the lawyer in Jurassic Park.

Back to Bubba, that was fricked up, Crockett, the Lieutenant (not Castillo) and the Judge got him killed.

Edward James Olmos was phenomenal in the original. Bardem just might be able to carry close to the same aura. Definitely can pull off a serious stare.
