Oh. I suppose that makes sense.

Here's a pretty good recap of the entire episode

Laurel's journey ends, at least in my opinion, with her becoming the Black Canary.

I can see where yall are coming from with this, but where and how does she get her training? Where does she even begin? Does Sara tell her everything then train her?

Why do yall think Laurel replaces her sister as black canary?

Laurel is obviously going through a major transformation and this show looks like it may be on the typical CW five year arch.

They aren't putting her through all this, having her lose everything and everyone, for her to become just a lawyer again. She would essentially be the definition of a useless character at that point. My guess is she turns "bad" then is reconciled to fighting "evil" after the people she stands with kills her sister...picking up her mantle as the Black Canary in a quest for redemption.

Idk it was brought up earlier. Only reason I think is because she is going down a dark path

the two big thoughts on Laurel is she will either be a villain or will take over for her sister.

i like your theory that it is essentially both with one leading into the other. that never really crossed my mind. for the sake of the story, if she was to become black canary, i hope its in this way.

if she doesnt become a villain and see what true evil looks like (not just losing a bf and swallowing your feelings with pills), then her becoming canary i think would feel forced. i dont want to see sara train her. Laurel, as a character, really has the most opportunity for growth and change (either good or bad) in the show right now.

only 4 episodes left. should be a fun ride.

eta: suicide squad question: so we can assume theres count vertigo, bronze tiger, and deadshot. im guessing solomon grundy will be in there and i could see huntress being in there too. any other guesses?

Did you go to the article that NWHoustonTiger linked? The showrunners have basically said that Sarah is basically part of Black Canary's (at least the one that we all know from the comics) origin story. The Black Canary's name in the comics is Laurel, not Sarah. So I think it is pretty obvious what their general plan is for Laurel to take up the mantel. Now the specifics are what we don't know. Like does Oliver or Sarah train her? Or does she go off and join the League or Merlin who trains her? Which ever way she does it, I think it is obvious that the showrunners plan on her becoming the Black Canary.

Which is fine, but they better explain how she got her skills and the timeline needs to fit. If it took Arrow and Sara at least 5 years of training...they cant expect us to be ok with her disappearing for 2 weeks to return as a badass.

i think thats why I like the villain pathway first. itd probably take up a large amount of time, where she would learn from some real bad asses. only to finally reform and have an inside knowledge of people oliver is going after. could be an interesting dynamic.

Laurel will swallow one of Sarah's sonic blaster and become the Black Canary.

I completely understand why you guys are thinking that Sara is just the first of Black Canary and Laurel may be the next but I can't get past this:

Short of some subplot coming along where the skills are downloaded into Laurel Matrix style, I don't see her being gone long enough for this to be realistic.

ETA:

That being said, I am bothered by Sara's chin and I think it and her will be dead by the end of this seasons finale.

She took that guy down in season 1 (can't remember which episode) and said her dad made her get self defense training. She may not be a martial artist but she knows enough now to kick a little arse.

If they are smart (which they pretty much have been up to this point), they will have her start her training at least by the end of this season, or the beginning of the next season. I kind of like the theory of her going off with someone like the League or Merlin at the end of this season, have her training with them for a year (or whatever timeframe they place between seasons), have her comeback as an apprentice type to them, and then at some point near the end of next season have her realize they are evil and join back with Oliver who finishes her training (with Sarah's death has the push for her to either turn to the League or Merlin, or return to Oliver's side). I guess the only other option is that Sarah dies by the end of this season, and Laural joins the team & Oliver trains her for the next season or two.

Also, has Oliver really started training hardcore yet to become the Arrow in the flashbacks? I know that he has learned some from Slade, Shado and Yao Fei and started the mental conditioning because of the circumstances of being on the island, but it hasn't appeared to me that he has truly started training yet (fighting skill wise). It'll be interesting to see if Oliver trained himself based on what Slade, Shado and Yao Fei has taught him, or if he gets more training from someone else on the island (I betting he trains himself since I think that more closely lines up with the comics).

My feeling is someone who is dead on the island...isn't really dead and they may bring in the Lazarus pit into the story.

Either that or there is a hidden character watching Oliver in the background on the island. Someone waiting to see if he REALLY is worthy to know the secrets of the arrow.

I would NOT be surprised if that person is Ra's al Ghul, himself, but Oliver didn't know him as that at the time. Maybe the pit is on the island (ala Lost)

I've been wondering if they will somehow try and tie the herb that he keeps using to heal himself & others with to the Lazarus pit.

the show is a perfect setting for the Lazarus pits. Nolan's universe it wouldnt have fit, so I would to see them here. If they do bring Yao Fei this way, I would like to see him a bit crazy. Showing the negative affects of using the Lazarus pit.

out there idea regarding Oliver's training: what if the person who trains him is Ra's apprentice, who is later revealed to be Bruce Wayne. They have mentioned that Nightwing will be in the show. but they havent said if he is connected to the Batman family.
